General Discussion / Re: Things that made you go "WTF?" today o_O

A new programmer for dwarf fortress. It's quite amazing. Of course, that's the WTF part, the fact that it's me is nothing but raw, unmitigated excitement on my part.

Congratulations!

Damn, happy for you or sorry that that happened, I'm not reading all of that.

Hold on OP*, you've read the Story of the Stone? Great! Finally someone else that has. I still haven't put my feelings on the novel together even though it's been about a 1-2 years since I finished it.

As for books, I have a couple. War & Peace I've had for several years and am only a couple hundred pages in, I might finish that this year, maybe not. I've also got Orwell's Burmese days, which I haven't started, Bram Stoker's Dracula, and Out of Africa by Isek Dinesen. Out of Africa is a book from a university class that we didn't end up reading, I might end up trading it for things fall apart by Chinua Achebe, or read that scramble for africa book that has been mentioned here. Considering reading Cien Años de Soledad in Spanish, but not sure if I´m good enough yet.

I think I read about 12 books last year? All of the Narnia books (don't ask,) Germinal, Witcher books 1-3, and then Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi for the previously mentioned university class. I suppose I'll go for 10 books of my own choosing this year, because really I didn't read much at all last year.

Fuck you buddy.
I think you're talking about Might and Magic 3, they did ok. I never finished the game but I got what I wanted out of it.
Bannerlord is a massive disappointment, however it does appear that after closing on a year of being out they are adding things in. Tons of cut content though, it probably won't even be a great game, maybe a good one, if we're lucky.
SMT5 is a videogame, it's coming out in 2021.
I did not, for a variety of reasons, including the rise of a massive pandemic.
College is ok.
Todavia estoy hablando español, y ahora he empezado aprender japonés.
Haven't finished it, still not entirely sure about story of the stone.

Cyberpunk came out better than you expected, but probably not as good as people hoped. It's a whole thing.

I'm alright.

No.

My first (and only so far, got another game started up though) game was on a desert planet so I haven't experienced fauna really, but it seems every time they get mentioned on here it's in an emu war context. Absolute units, all of them.

I've gotten a bit more into the new VTM mod and I can tell you pretty confidently that the modding system seems much stronger. The CK2 mod had probably 2-3x the dev of this version and this version of the VTM mod still feels so much better. The skill trees works so well for the system, and the eras seem like they'll do a lot to represent the different source books. I think we'll get some really good mods for this game, it's just going to take time. VTM is solid right now, but clearly is going to be much better in the future. No idea about the bronze age mod though as I haven't really played it.

Classical Marxism. Apparrently my closest matches after that are Marxism-Leninism, Eurocommunism, and Orthodox Marxism. The actual heat map makes me look like a syndicalist and/or Trotskyist.

Has everyone given up on the game? I bought it.

I was going to be a loyal vassal in Alba, that lasted for my first character, now I’m fighting my liege for a single county because it hurt me not to have it (Gowrie in Albany. I have all the other counties in the duchy, which surround Gowrie) and I fear that was an error as now I’m criminal.

I’ll have 6k troops if he fails to imprison me though. Still need to finis the war, but I’d be shocked if I don’t win as I have an alliance with West Francia if things get dicey, plus the pennies to hire a few mercenaries.

I like the way hiring mercenaries works now. I’m less enamoured with men at arms, but that’s just because I currently can only have 4 regiments, and that’s not enough to balance everything out for counters.

I haven't given up on the game but I'm kind of waiting for updates/mods/expansions. The current game is nice, but I have 1000+ hours in CK2 so the core gameplay of CK doesn't do a whole lot for me anymore. Guess I could try doing a Rome run, never have done one of those in all my playthroughs.

Edit: oh shit the Vampire the Masquerade mod has added the anarch revolt and the inquisition, probably need to go back to that. Sounds really cool.

The fearful man dies a thousand times, the brave man dies only once. Stop being dead.

I too played Rome Total War and read the loading screen tips.

This got posted to the forums and Vic replied that he was toying with the idea of navies. He also said it would happen in 2021, if it does.
