Juice is sort of like liberal street cred.  You only get it for performing public actions.  I think that basically everything that will give you juice gains will trigger a news story, with the possible exception of spraying graffiti.
Yeah, I remember what the juice represents I just remember them good ole days when you could keep a low profile and then burst on the scene with a fair amount of juice. If that's changed I will need to dramatically change my strategery.

Fairly ridiculous but I'd like it if either a brainwashed news anchor or just a liberal named TV would seize the AM radio mike, someone would say "This is TV on the Radio" and maybe they'd get a tiny boost to get a good radio show. Or maybe not. Maybe y'all don't like that band.

Hey I really like the new lcs version but I don't know if what's happening is a bug or what. I was trying to keep a low profile, small thievery and whatnot, but found that I wasn't receiving any juice for my apartment thieving. Is this planned or something bizarre?

Other Games / Re: WWI MEDIC

I have at times imagined a cutting edge redesign of WWI medic. Something maybe in the vein of Battlefield but with two sides that basically have to get out of their trench to try to make any progress. Lots of quick deaths and maybe three people per team just trying to keep crap together. FANTASTIC!

There was a game way back in '97 called Evolution: The game of intelligent life. I never got too far into it 'cause I was barely in double digits age-wise. I was pissed when I got my first dinosaur and then a meteor came in and destroyed it. It was sad.

Here's a description

I some downloads on abandonware sites that I've never used and may be in fact virus and spyware factories I dunno. Good Luck hunting.

Yeah, crazy Ann Margaret and her chocolate room if I remember correctly. Also, I prefer the album, but both add further elucidation on the events of each other. In the album it was '21 is gonna be a good year, the movie does '41 (I think) and then there's that weird thing with the dad and Tommy's told he didn't hear it but on the album they didn't really explain what he didn't see or hear.
Weird.

Creative Projects / Re: Further World Design Questions

Whoo! Thanks y'all.

I'm thinking that I'll go with psyco jelly's suggestion for the planet, as it's pretty close to what I had envisioned. The halo idea is interesting and will go in the idea repository for possible use with some other thing, though I know not what.
For the explosive conundrum I like psyco jelly's and Virex's but sweet jesus, V's was detailed. It may end up with two separate elements with Virex's taking the old elements place and psyco jelly's being something entirely new. Feel free to give it a baptismal name.
Thanks again.

Creative Projects / Further World Design Questions
« on: July 09, 2009, 12:13:25 am »
I don't know if I need the "further" part as I doubt anyone remembers the first questions. (they were resolved)
I realize that there are other places I can ask about this, but Bay12 is one of the more trusted forums I occasionally frequent.
The setup:
There's a world I'm designing for a game I'm slowly but surely programming. It is a big ol' cylinder. This is so that I can create an entire world, not just a continent and not have to calculate curvature of the planet and other nonsense. It was a means to an end I liked a lot. Also on this planet is an element that explodes when put into contact with open fire among other magical things. There's more to this place to make it interesting but I'm trying to keep this background info brief.

The Questions:
1. How does this place get seasons? The Earth gets seasons because of axial tilt which creates differences in hours of daylight at different times of the year plus some other variables such as intensity of sunlight at different points on the surface of the earth etc. But if a tube tilts then all parts are still exposed to the same amount of light and have the same amount of daylight. The best thing I have at this point is that the sun revolves around the cylinder and throughout the "year" the sun drifts from near the northern edge of the cylinder (actually a tube, but that's another issue) to the southern, thus giving different intensities of light if not different day lengths. As to why this sun can give enough heat while having a small enough mass to rotate around the cylinder, I have an explanation that boils down to a divine black box.
Does this explanation work? Is it ridiculous? Do you have something better, or at least more sensible?

2. How do you have an explosive material and give an explanation for why there are no guns or why they can't make a rudimentary firearm? I don't want to have any point at which I have to tell the player "That's just the way it is" at least unless they come to the point of where the creators of the planet come from. I'm not averse to small explosives like small hand grenades, and I can forbid large explosives with the unstable in large quantities excuse, but guns don't require large amounts of gunpowder for instance. Do I have to scrap the whole thing? Can you come up with something, 'cause this one has me at a loss.

Thanks.

Woo hoo! Thanks!
Seems like the court house is ground zero for a lot of the issues.

Pffft. Waterboarding isn't torture. There's no physical harm, no intense pain. It doesn't even cause any debilitating permanent injuries! What gives!?
Torture isent suppose to leave scars, its a way to get information out of someone, not harm them(unless your a sick and depraved person).

I do believe the man was being sarcastic good Doom Cow.

I hope this isn't a repeat thread, but I didn't check. I've been drinking so you'll have to excuse me.
I was wondering what sites affect some issues. Some are obvious, prison reform, police, pollution, corporate malfeasance. Some I remember from before, gay rights, abortion etc. But there's some new ones that I don't know how to affect.
These are: immigration, military spending, drug law, racial equality. I think that's it.
Okay, thanks in advance.

carbonara is kind of bland alone, but if you throw in bacon and stuff it becomes this godly bacony dish with an awesome flavour and texture.

I always understood carbonara to be traditionally made with bacon, or rather, probably prosciutto. My personal favorite, pancetta. At this one spot in San Diego, we made a Roqueforte Caesar salad and it was finished with crispy pancetta. It was delicious.

When it comes to breaking down tough meat braising is the awesome. When I'm poor (frequently) and need protein, I just get the cheapest stuff make it smallish pieces, though that's not even necessary and slow cook that thing in spices and liquid for a few hours. Good times. Incidentally, putting coke in the liquid mixture is like magic for flavor. Braised beef or pork is especially good for burritos, tacos, curries, sandwiches, dumplings all kinds of great stuff.
To tenderize you can also boil (not exciting) and as the badger said, use high acid type marinades. Pineapple works wonders.
