Unfortunately, there's no cool messages like Adventurer mode, although I did look at a human guild rep fighting a kobold thief and saw he had vomit splatter in his right eye.  I laffed.

Thanks for the suggestions.

1. I do have an animal stockpile, and nothing has ever been put in it  :( However, I did manage to get a donkey out of a cage but I have no idea how, other than I made it 'available' on the animal screen.
2. My smelter has been on "melt object" for some time but the cages won't go into it. I've got free furnace operators/blacksmiths/metalsmiths and fuel.
3. None of them have 'forbid' on them.
4. I've designated a dump zone, it is active, but it isn't being used (at least for cages and bolts).
5. I've got a population of about 150+ and there's always free people about, so unless there's a particular toggle to carry cages (other than 'item')?

Is this just a feature then? :P

I accidentally set up some cages as cages, rather than traps, and they've captured a donkey and some other animals.

I can't get rid of them. I've tried removing the cages, but they still stay there, I've tried dumping them, tagging them for melting and they won't move. I've set up animal stockpiles, and they're ignored. I can't 'q' them anymore, I can only see them via 'k'.  I went through the animal screen and made all donkey's available, and the donkey subsequently disappeared, but the cages are still there and MC Hammered.

I've done a search on the forums and I can't seem to find much that helps.

Is this a bug or a feature? :P

Just a couple of Q's:

1. I've several times accidentally removed my soldiers from my military. As I don't recall names very well (especially between several ongoing builds) is there anyway of reclaiming them? They seem to disappear into civilian life with no record of them. I think I've also done this with other professions from the military screen   :)

Also, they seemed a little shy at first in coming out, perhaps an AI change could do that?  Three of them vomited at my feet the first time I saw them, 1 threw a bunch of posies, and then I was savaged by a carp.

I also have trouble getting them to correctly stay on the elephant chargers, perhaps we could modify some sort of SIT_TIGHT modifier?

Thank you for the suggestions - I didn't know about the init/autosave function  :)

And yes, losing is fun, and I got a story out of it (which is the point!)

Unless I've missed something, I'd love to see an "restart map" option. I spent a good 10 mins setting up my dwarves, pressed the space bar, only to have my hunter leap at the nearest carp 8 spaces away and sustain mortal wounds, staining the bubbling spring with dwarf chunks.

Now I've got to set it all up again  :(  *And* it was a good spot.

I know I can back up the save file but I really wasn't expecting to have things go so wrong so early  :D
