DF Adventure Mode Discussion / how to pile up items?

I trained throwing with food. My inventory looked like:
.jaguar meat[5]
After picking up the items I see every single item listed:
.jaguar meat
.jaguar meat
.jaguar meat
.jaguar meat
.jaguar meat
Is there a way to pile them up? It is kinda annoying to scroll pages of same items...
