DF Suggestions / Re: Elven Zoo(or something)
« on: December 21, 2009, 07:18:54 am »
The key difference between "captivity" and "slavery" is whether or not you're forcing something to do work.

c.f. also "indentured service".  Very similar to slavery, in many respects yet (supposed to be, at least) time-limited and at least partially willingly entered into by the 'owned' person.  (Although grey areas abounded.)

But nothing to do with caged elves.  Which (if they truly are looked after) sounds very much more like a reality show situation, apart from the original chase-and-catch part of the process.  Call it "Big Wooder" or "I'm A Friend-Of-A-Tree, Get Me Out Of Here", perhaps. :)
Oh, and there is hostage.

If you want your dwarves to keep sapients in cages that's fine, but the curious thing is the obsession with elves.
Two words: wooden cages.
[TORTURE_FOR_FUN:MANDATORY]? At least elves give the option to escalate. Goblins skip that phase. They probably hate dwarves for their beards.
No, just no, they are a race that of which is ruled by fell, and macabre demons, there is no wonder in why they try to kill dwarves, humans, kobolds, elves, and life in general.

DF General Discussion / Re: Anouncing The PathFinder Project
« on: December 21, 2009, 05:28:42 am »
What will it do when DF is paused?

Could it keep caching some random point-to-point paths so they can be used when you unpause game? On the other hand it might not be so great idea in DF universe where everything's constantly changing...
It'd probably finish all pathfinding in that particular frame, unless you unpause before that, but a path is only defined for one instance, AND I DO MEAN EXACTLY ONE!

We really need to maake a contract with ToadyOne about this...

Anyways he said that there would be no commercialization ( quethed by Footkerchief on many occasions ) and the reason he makes this game is to enrich lives of others, and wants to keep his golden egg incubated into a more platinum composition.

And hence forth I declare Footkerchief, God of Archiving ( Referencing )

When it comes to unlikeliness, it is as unlikely as getting the... Age of Fairy Tales announcement!
There has been only one report of it EVER, and that was by ToadyOne himself.

Just don't claim this as your original idea, many people would be displeased.
Especially if you try to make this a commercial product.

I once had a dwarf trapped on top of a tree getting shredded by Giant Eagles.

Vicid, that is very similar but, what is this guy going to do?
Vomit his dismembered bodies?
Bleed on you?

DF Suggestions / Re: Rise of the Megabeasts
« on: December 20, 2009, 03:34:04 pm »
Monsters:
Catoblepas:
Giant bull. Breath poison of oozing wounds and blood vomiting.

Cockitrice - Giant flightness bird that looks like an ostrich. Touch poison with necrosis and paralysis.

Basilisk - Giant lizard with a crest and huge teeth. Breath poison with necrosis and paralysis.

Biscione - Human with a snake-tail instead of legs. Sort of like an upside-down snakeman. Counts as a sort of animal-man for tribes.

Salamander - High homeoterm. Fire immune, but not dragon-fire immune or lava immune. Skin is coated in fever-poison.

Pegasus - Winged horse. You know the drill on it.

Amphisbaena - A scaly chicken with a snake head comming out of the neck and another at the tip of it's long tail. Eats vermin.

Orochi - Snake with eight heads and eight tails. Optional: give each head a different venom. Optionalx2: Make it giant and turn it into a megabeast.

Abatwa - Tiny people that ride ants around. Possibly a sort of vermin.

Semi-Megabeasts:
Sphinx - Lion shaped body. Has two heads, one shaped like a person and one shaped like a snake, located on the tail. Can talk. Has wings and can fly. Spheres of [trICKERY], [SPEECH] and [trUTH]

Megabeast:
Gorgon - Always female, just like harpies. Humanoid. Three kinds of poison: Injected of impaired vision, dizziness and fever. Breathe poison of paralysis and numbness. Touch poison of bleeding, pain and blisters. Can talk and use weapons. Shperes are [DEFORMITY] and [JEALOUSY].

Manticore - Scorpion's tail that has injected paralysis venom. Flies. Covered in poisonous spines which are covered in paralysis causing secretions. Shperes are [DISEASE] and [trECHERY].
GREK, FUCKING DESCRIBE THEM PHYSICALLY, AND CORRECTLY.
Anyways these are add-ons to his things.

Cockatrice, larger than a chicken, created when a chicken egg is incubated by a toad, it is a demonic chicken with piercing yellow eyes, when touched ( by skin, or flesh ) petrification occurs, on the new moon, looking into it's eyes, or hearing it's hiss may petrify, the only cure is eating a lizard before full petrification.

Basilisk, a six legged alligator, really fast, can cause petrification, but forgot how.

Salamander, an ever burning slamander, spirit of fire.

Dude, that is not a sphinx, they don't have snake tails, you are talking about a gorgon.

The leviathan is a humongous serpent ( via description ) , can boil the sea with it's flaming breath, it's body spews miasma.

You got Behemoth right.

And Jormungandr, it is a giant ass snake/worm, touching it will kill you, breathing it's breath, YOU DIE, it is called the World Serpent for a reason! And can cause the apocalypse, if awoken... or found.

Ziz, a giant griffin, that can cover the sun with it's mighty wings, protector of all birds, and is immortal.

He needed some bone for his fey mood.

This is version 41. It is crafted from human sweat. All coding is of the highest quality.

He'd better not go berserk or melancholy in the middle of this artifact-quality game. It's been over a year since he started construction...
This'll probably be like BoiledPrinces, and PlanePacked combined, with all of the objects needed to build it on the other side of the 6x6 ( Regional tile ) map.

Anyways, a guy needs to fall unconscience after a one-year cluster.

BoiledPrinces?

Anyway, friggin' signed.
It's description was a few pages longer than PlanePacked, and used somewhere around a hundred more materials to to make, anyways the let down was when it was way cheaper than PlanePacked, people who know of it call it the World Quern.
Mainly because the amount of historical engravings on it has outnumbers PlanePacked.

All we need know is a newb to walk in then ask were to find the raws.
Done?

Anyways, dwarves in the new version now are sensible enough to dowse fire, but there are no firemen entities other than beings made of fire, and spew fire.

DF Suggestions / Re: Gate Keeper Noble
« on: December 16, 2009, 09:14:26 am »
Here is a question: Why does the Gatekeeper need to be a Noble?
Because it'd be silly to have a whole bunch of dabbling gatekeepers.

Why even make it a seperate job? Why not deligate it to the military squad?

Or heck, why is that even a reason? Don't make everyone a gatekeeper.
... Quote one, you beat quote two, and quote three you set quote two aflame.
Anyways, just say that the military squad is dedicated to said gate, and and have three military units designated to the lever. ( to protect from sabotuers )
