You did well with the workshops, they're placed neatly next to the relevant stockpiles.
You should try to utilize the z-axis when designing your bedrooms, those looks like they take ages to travel to and from.
Your above-ground fortifications are very nice, however you should make some pathways on the walls not exposed to the enemy, to allow your marksdwarves to retreat without getting an arrow to the knee.
It also looks like you have a ☼Massive Power Generator☼, although I could be wrong.
Perpetual generators drain a crazy amount of CPU, and I can't even fathom how you can play with a beast of that size.
Also, you can upload those images to the DFMA (http://mkv25.net/dfma/), which will make it easier for us to check out your fort :)

Hey guys, I really like the workflow command, but I'm having troubles with it, and is looking for help.
Specifically, lye, ash, milled products and the like are what I'm having issues with.

Lye for example, I've concluded is a LIQUID_MISC, but LIQUID_MISC/LYE (And LIQUID_MISC:LYE) doesn't work for me..

What I'm looking for is documentation on the syntaxes, and something that can help me understand what categories items are in. Right now I'm using the wiki and trying to search through the RAWs, but it's not helpful.

You can use "/" and "//" in such cases, and they have different meaning.
"/" refers to object and material, from which the object is made. Example: "DOOR/STONE"
"//" refers to category and object. Like in your case - "LIQUID_MISC//LYE", because it is not "liquid, made of lye", but rather "specific liquid - lye"
And (just in case) ":" refers to separate file of item tokens. You can look them in http://dwarffortresswiki.org/index.php/Item_token. That would look like "ARMOR:ITEM_ARMOR_BREASTPLATE/STEEL"
Thank you so much! Makes much more sense to me now :)

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Vampire CSI

I had a vampire, and looked through this thread for answers on how to find it..
2 murders have happened now, while the victims were sleeping.

People have reported abnormally high practical and social skills, so I decided to start my search with my mayor.
Instant find.

Here's a screenshot of the description screen.
Please notice the lack of thoughts related to dining, sleeping and drinking, and the abnormally long list of former colonies.

That's bloody awesome :D

DF General Discussion / Re: Legacy vs SDL

The SDL got some problems with "foreign" (e.g. non-US) keyboards, so I used Legacy for a while.
Now I simply change the layout from my native danish to US whenever I play Dwarf Fortress.

Everyone who posts in this thread needs to get out more and talk to girls.

That includes me.

Windows 7 64-bit.

Also, I think we all had the feeling that Linux users would be represented a lot more than they usual does, but 25% is still pretty impressive :o

Soap can clean creatures now, maybe floors too? Else, flush it with water!

Wouldn't reducing the amount of layers in the worldgen parameters speed up the game too?
Very much so.

Question : Why are most animals listed twice?
because of the way creature RAWs are done, I think female and males are two different things now.
No they're in castes. If males and females had their own RAWs they wouldn't be able to breed anyways, in the current RAW system..

But yeah, they're more likely listed twice since there's WAY more difference between castes than the old genders.

I have decided that with the new awesome immigrants, "Play Now!" is the official new best way to play.
Well, dwarves with military skills aren't in the military on migration..
And a high-master soaper might have the armorsmith task activated instead!

It's really quite buggy, but yeah, if the right tasks were activated it would be freaking sweet!
.. Cant wait for 31.01..b? >.>

*Ahem* Does he have insurance?

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
And the purpose of posting political bullshit is...?

Because health insurance reform isn't done yet and neither is DF's medical interface?
You should all know better than to talk politics on the Interwubs.
Flame wars are inevitable.
