DF Suggestions / Re: Gem Processing

Maybe instead of ordering an encrusting at the workshop, it could be done on a given item's window?

No, no, wait. Could maybe add something to the workshop profile telling it to only encrust designated items, and then options in an item's window to either flag a valid item for encrusting one time only or ongoing?

In the case of a regular fortress (which eventually will become blank statement for whatever you choose to develop, towns, prisons, factories, outpost...) then it could have some repercussions, like "Urist McWoodcutter is distraught by being forced to use heavy armor to do his work lately".
Perhaps with temporarily reduced severity if there's been recent deaths or maimings?

DF Suggestions / Re: Easy Egg Production Fix
« on: November 26, 2014, 09:02:36 pm »
I just stick a door on the nesting area and lock it whenever I want the animal population to increase.

But an (O)rder whether or not to harvest eggs could be nice, too. Or maybe a setting on a box by box basis, but that could be complicated...

I think someone already suggested this for you Here. Uses a quote from you, even.

A giant cockroach bit my head off nine turns into the game. I wasn't expecting naming my character 'Aethelred' to turn out to be prophetic...

DF General Discussion / Re: So, how long until .40 becomes "stable"?
« on: July 09, 2014, 12:48:40 pm »
I imagine the first patch will come out in the near future, and then we'll continue seeing patches for an unknown length of time.

It kind of depends on how things go, really. Within half a year does seem reasonable though.

DF General Discussion / Re: RIP: Your First Fort
« on: July 03, 2014, 09:13:05 pm »
It was... something like 5-6 years ago, I think. Maybe 4. I barely knew what I was doing at all, and everyone ultimately starved because I didn't realize I had to set my farms to grow particular things. Or that they had to be inside to grow mushrooms.

Afterwards, I studied the wiki for a while before trying again. Bluntly, my fortress designs are still hideously bad, but at least my dwarves tend not to starve. Er, on accident at least.

DF General Discussion / Re: Happy 2nd birthday, DF 0.34.11!

Huh. It doesn't feel like it's been two years, somehow. Weird... ???

But the new version comes soon, which is fascinating. I wonder if it will be as crazy as DF2010's release date... I seem to recall server crashing and other assorted hilarity.
And that was on an April 1st, where you'd expect people to initially think it was a prank. Ah, good times...

If you're willing to be vigilant, you could always forbid the eggs when they're laid.

Maybe have an additional bit in the Kitchens tab for whether or not an item is acceptable to be added to the feed bins instead of setting up the bins for what they can and cannot use. That said, I like it.

Yeah, it apparently didn't occur to me until after I'd been told that by the tech support people. :/

Although I needed their help anyway to figure out how to keep it from quarantining the darn file long enough to add it to the exceptions list...

Then it seems I have a discussion with Symantec ahead of me. ::)

The new version of the mod does sound amazing, btw. I can't wait to be... able... to try it. And sorry about eating like half of your technical questions thread right as it got off the ground.

HeurEngine.ZeroDayThreat is a detection technology designed to detect entirely new malware threats without traditional signatures. This technology is aimed at detecting malicious software that has been intentionally mutated or morphed by attackers.
:o  ???  ??? Again:  ??? How does this description fit any virus? It says it is a detection tech to find malware and malicious software. That sounds like a virus scanner, not a virus. ^^ PCTools is weird.

My scan is glorious 15,5% done so far, no problems found.
I believe what it means is that it detects things that 'act like' viruses and then labels them with the heurengine thing.
Regrettably.... yeah, like smake said, it's probably being overenthusiastic about declaring stuff to be viral.
I'll be running my own scan, I guess. If nothing comes up for either, it's probably a false positive and I'll go yell at them or... something.  :-\

This isn't the first time it has found this virus. Seems to be a rare occurance, though, and again, it doesn't 'normally' (for a given value of normal) find it between versions of stuff...

Edit: Assuming this link works, it's what PCTools has decided the problem is... Very unusual.

Sorry about the inconvenience.  :-X

Wouldn't normally mention it at all (this isn't the first time it's happened), but it's kind of odd for it to suddenly react to a new version of something like that...
