I'll probably mod out dwarven drunks.

Dwarves aren't humans. Basing their biochemistry and relationships on human models is illogical, and makes the game feel less unique.

What does Dfusion's power up command do? It appears to be both opaque to googling, as well as not listed in the readme.

Have you tried updating to 2.03?
Also, make sure none of your df folder is read-only. Can't add to it if its read-only, but the df folder shouldn't be by default.
Hmm, tried both of those, but it's still doing it when I try macro mode.

*shrug* Key mode works okay.

I'm using Windows 7 with a clean copy of Lazy Newb Pack V9.3 with Dwarf Fortress 0.31.25 - I have not manually updated anything.

Changing the mode to "key" works for now, thanks for the great utility. :)

I am glad that people necro'd this thread. I loved it and wouldn't have found it otherwise.

Ending was a little forced, but was fairly epic nonetheless. And as I've learned from many D&D campaigns, any conclusion is better than no conclusion. End your stories not with a whimper, but a bang!

Would people be interested in tutorials based on the new version? I'm tempted....

If I chose the right zone I could move into glass production, engineering, etc.

I'd make my roommate go through it for sure! As it stands, I'm having a hard time convincing him to go through the original tutorials because he thinks it'll only be partially-relevant to "The New DF".

I was kinda hoping you'd do new ones, but I didn't feel right asking, since you've already done so much for the community. I love the idea though!

Yeah I really wish someone would make a repack of Mayday's tilesset like the previous one at DFFD for this version.
I'm one of those people that was introduced to this game exclusively by TinyPirate tutorials. DLed and tried to run the new version; I was hopelessly lost. :( I hope mayday is rendered into a working state soon too.

I'm actually pretty good with pixel art - having grown up on Windows 3.1, I played around in Paint a lot, for kicks. If someone who understands the coding part were able to tell me what new tiles are needed, I'd be happy to fill in the gaps while emulating the Mayday style.

So far my only trouble is using dwarf manager.  It doesn't seem to like making too many changes at once.  also the newest version appears to have more trouble if you're using the version of DF Tiny's using in his tutorial.
The memorylayout.xml for 40d11 that Dwarf Manager v0.7 comes with was/is incorrect, causing it to screw up when you get immigrants/sieges/caravans. I forget where I downloaded the correct layout, so just write over whatever is in your memorylayout.xml with this.

I get about 16 FPS, and I don't really see a problem with it. Stuff moves, and I find myself clicking, giving orders, and adjusting things with few pauses. I love the music... I'll turn it off for an hour, when I get tired of it, then I'll turn it back on and start humming along with it. There's so much to like about this game. When other creatures become more dangerous than the fish, the game will be perfect.

Speaking of pikes, they're still killing dwarves. I've stopped playing that fort, really, as it's fucking annoying to see that this or that dwarf has inadvertently gotten close to a pike and managed to die. Before I changed the raws, pikes were causing my guys to drown. Now that I took the Aquatic tag off, pikes have been wandering the land, picking off plant gatherers when I least expect it.

The mulecats, on the other hand, are a huge success, though i wasted a bit of trading on stocking up horses and donkeys. According to the wiki, mules cannot currently be born of horse and ass; they can only be embarked with or traded for.
