Lots of pumps.  You're lucky it's in the river, not an aquifer, or it'd be almost impossible.

Another way, if you have it, would be lava.

The petitions notification is a giant flashing marquee that's basically nonstop in any decent sized fortress.  Please move it to the left, grouped with Reports as a bright green P that doesn't flash.

I just saw one of our two resident bards stumble to bed 'faint' with a minor head injury (dented).  "He was afraid after experiencing a trauma".  But there's absolutely no mention of any combat in the reports.

Something very bad and strange has happened.  Vampire bite maybe?

Try setting up a stockpile nearby that only accepts minecarts, unassign all the carts, let them get drug to t he stockpile, then reassign the carts to the routes

Okay, this is helping, previously I'd used minecarts that weren't in a stockpile yet.  Maybe that was why.

Yes, there are dwarves, I hit printscreen at the wrong instant and it just showed the table.

Aside from a were-rabbit, fortress defense is going well.

I've set up some minecart routes which worked at first, but eventually the dwarves started ignoring them.  Minecarts empty, feeding stockpiles full, and 30 idlers.  The "store item in vehicle" job doesn't even appear in Jobs.  I managed to kick one of them into being loaded again by adding a 'move every 7 days no matter what' operation, but now its stalled again, for another 7 days.  What gives?

Noticed something mildly weird when hollowing out more rooms in a reclaimed fort;  walls seem to come out smoothed when you dig in a fortress area.  The floors don't, but the walls do.

I'm now quite impressed by the results of giving everyone 'adequate' dodging at bare minimum.  The caverns had to be breached for water and wood, resulting in a giant toad, a cave crocodile, and a gaggle of extremely lost goats.  Kobolds also have been bold.  Nobody's had worse than bruises, they just keep jumping until the axedwarves arrive and clean up.  Usually they'd be dead before I could summon help.

I can't prove it but I think at one time during worldgen I witnessed forest tiles near dwarfhomes disappearing, as if the dwarves were clearcutting.
