Great idea, glad to see that something like this exists, especially with lots of DF bugfix incremental releases recently. A couple of things:

* Is there a way to have it automatically version check on launch to see if a new version of DF is available?
* When's auto-update for the Vanilla DF Launcher itself coming? I didn't even notice there was a new version until I went hunting for it.

Thanks for all the great work, though! It's been very appreciated.

Not in the fresh build of DF 31.03 - I specifically created a brand new install of DF without addons to see if it would do the same thing (which, it did).

Hello! I have never actually tried using stonesense before, but I figure I would give it a whirl now that a version is out for the 2010 version of DF.

I experience some drastic slowdown, however, when I hook Stonesense into DF 31.03. I am running Win7 64-bit with an ATI 4800. Presently, if DF is running by itself on a fresh install, it runs excellent. As soon as Stonesense hooks in, there is visual hiccuping and input lag inside of DF. Fiddling with Partial Print in DF init.txt, as well as all combinations of USE_OPENGL and CACHE_IMAGES doesn't seem to do anything.

Any information pointing me in the right direction would be swell - otherwise, keep up the good work!

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Magma and Sand Walls - Intentional?
« on: November 05, 2007, 10:33:00 pm »
I just hopped onto an aquifer map that had a pretty good sized magma pool extending past the bottom z-level. I notice however that for some reason, magma can be contained by the sand walls on its highest levels. Wouldn't the walls be turned to glass from the heat of the magma? I don't know if it's an oversight, a bug, or something that isn't implemented yet. Just thought I'd point that out if someone already hasn't.

DF Suggestions / [Interface] Move certain things to child windows
« on: January 01, 2007, 07:19:00 am »
This is an idea stolen from Angband but I figured that a game of this scale (particularly in Fortress mode) would benefit from the same concept.

Instead of having everything crammed into submenu/status windows or take up parts of the game screen, offer the option to relegate certain things to child windows: that is, a separate window dedicated to displaying only a certain type of information. For example, instead of having the Menu Reference / Designations bar in the main window, it could be transferred to a child window to allow for more space to view the game world.

This can be taken a step further, and have the child windows be resizeable as needed to fit a variety of desktop environments. The main mission of having child windows is to eliminate clutter from the game screen.
