You could make them amphibious.

The [GRAZER:X] tag says how much nutrition the animal gets from grazing.  Setting it low makes them need to eat and eat and eat.

[GRAZER:X], secretly [SPEED:0]'s brother...

Depends on how much stuff you want left over when the adventurer comes around.

I like to see it as the ultimate expression of a gamebreaker's efficiency. We kill kittens to prevent catsplosions, while making sure there are cats to hunt vermin. We burn elves with magma because they ... Um.. hate our logs.

Okay, we're bad people. But we enjoy it.

20-z does as well. However I recommend 50 just because.

To quote a bomb squad technician I once knew, "too much is juuuuust about right."
What happened to him?

Someday the crutch walker skill will mean something.

Someday dwarves will have peg-legs.

Someday.

And then there will be a bug wherein dwarves can have peg-anything. Peg-faces, peg-livers, peg-brains (makes them elfy), peg-lungs, peg-hands (with holes drilled into them to hold axes), and so on.

Peg... beards? I'm sure this would involve plucking out each hair and replacing it with splinters. Or 2x4s. Or cotton candy.

Hmm... If we drop a wall into single-tile shaft down to magma will it push the magma out to the surface? Or what's the physics of the trick?

Aren't you describing the dwarven magma piston? Only... more like a landmine/geyser.

Clearly, this can be weaponized with cages and a tiny meeting area as part of an access path.
... Make the chickens able to learn, too.

Maybe minable becon? Or monsters made out of bacon?

Terry Pratchett kinda beat us to that one... in The Fifth Elephant.

I would certainly hire him a team!
MADE OF PERFECT CLONES OF HIMSELF.
MASSIVELY PARALLEL TOADY CODING.
So, we'd have Toady One, two, three...

I can only imagine a 'kitchen stadium' kind of setup. Hm.

Put your stockpiles nearby, of course, but have at least two sets of stills and kitchens, and designate iron chefs!

I didn't know ghosts could kill my dwarves! I would've gotten rid of them sooner if I had!

... Son, this is dwarf fortress. What in the world made you think these were the cuddly Harry potter-esque type of ghosts? These are the ghosts of dwarves who never made it home to rest. These are the angry, blood thirsty ghosts who sneak into your dwarve's rooms late at night and rip their souls out through their nostrils as they slumber.

Even worse... They shave off the beards of their victims!

Incidentally, the 'all meat' diet of an Inuit also included kelp, berries, and fermented meat products (inuit Diet). Fermentation (or zymurgy) has been used throughout history to catalyze and preserve important nutrients.

Also, the person who said "look at the greater number of plant sources than animal" (on the wikipedia page) was discounting the rather huge number of other creatures with edible components that have vitamin C... And what about insects?
