I may have missed this, and I'm sorry if I have, but...

Are you planning on working on Guilds and/or Societies relatively soon, now that you're trying to create reasons for people to form relationships?

It's a neat system, but some tweaking I think is in order. I've seen a few dwarves now completely change their attitudes on life because they got rained on once.

It's kind of funny that people keep saying they want Paradox games to go from Rome to CK. It'll never happen for the same reason CK2 will never be pushed back any earlier than it is: Paradox will not mimic the rise of Islam. It'd get them a lot of flak, and alienate them, from Muslim players and Islam-majority countries.

To be honest, I'm pretty sure they even said as much years ago.

Supra Vandal is MR14, so I'd expect you to have a bit of an arsenal by now. I'll actually have to wait for next time he brings it, sadly, since I'm only MR13.

And yipes, they've had to bugfix the hell out of the new game mode.

But if you're constantly changing, no one will be able to sig-hop to history from you!

The only reaction I've ever gotten on mentioning DF was a guy on a forum asking me to tell him some of the stories DF has given me... Apparently on the gaming forum he was a part of DF is seen as the ultimate story generating game.

Something Awful does frequent (at least they used to, I haven't been on there in forever) succession Let's Plays of Dwarf Fortress. Long stories like Boatmurdered are common there, and even Boatmurdered itself is from there.

And in a way, it is definitely the ultimate story generating game. Especially the sad ones. I can't remember now if it was starvation, dehydration, or a syndrome, but my people were dying left and right at one point. It was so interesting to see my girlfriend's reaction as I relayed how one guy came home only to find his wife dead in her bed, walked over and sat with her for a few minutes, then walked to the over to the door and died against it.

Very disappointing. I didn't remember this thread, so I entered and read the OP and was like "Awesome!"

And then I saw your post and realized I'm 3 years later to the party and would be let down even if I'd been there.

Yeah, I basically ended up dealing with short-circuits by having a second battery room solely for the purpose of switching the power over to after a short-circuiting.

Oh, and you could milk the male dwarves, too.  (I even managed to weird out Toady with the report on that one...)

Oh oh! STORY TIME! :D

Not actually that hard. Beat them fairly handily in my first try. Straight down when the axes show up, move to the other side of one when they meet, come back when they separate.
