... you know what, yeah, eat the knife, we gotta figure out some shit and having foreign objects in the wound while that metal is cooling might be problems. Unless our internals are hot enough that it's melted, but it'd probably have fallen off at that point.

Okay.

SO!

We need more information, but right now isn't really the time.

... or maybe it's definitely the time, who knows. In any case, we know these things will just keep coming, so defensive isn't an option, other than that... *presumably* someone important will eventually notice and come bail us out but that'd probably put us in debt to them in some way.

Wait, I might have missed this, is the one we ate still gone, or did it get replaced? It probably did. If not, fuck it, LUNCHTIME.

Actually honestly either way lunchtime is probably a good idea, we need the energy. if it *did* come back, might as well try venting instead, see if it changes the response.

If that don't work, obviously we need to just eat *all of them* and see if we can't meditate on them later, figure out some new tricks. Do... we have access to its traits? Bears investigation.

Okay, so we learn more about our setting. That's good! To a certain point at least. We'll need to find a way to fix that little problem later, if there's a form of energy there should be a technique to sense it, but the fact that it's not innate makes things more difficult.

While questions are important, this isn't really the time? Definitely remember all our concerns and need to know more about this world for later. Obviously our assumptions are off-base, it's possible that vassalage isn't even a thing here so we can't even take that as an assumption.

But right now we have a more practical problem to deal with. We're trapped in an array, or something like it, and we don't know how it works or how it can be broken.

Hm... Alchemical smoke... we do have some nifty innate traits we can make use of while we try to figure this out. Can we consume other things like we consumed the gorillas? Suck in the air and possibly emit it from our thrusters all at once to disrupt the alchemical cloud that controls the array? Either way, I suggest heading for a building for now. We need information and fighting the gorillas isn't going to earn us much but wasted energy, and we don't have time to break the laws of reality quite yet, we need a stable base first.

-1 to any of this vision related nonsense.  If we're sensing stuff with some kinda magic sense, it means others can sense us through the same way.  Having a big giant sign over our heads as to where we are or what we are doing is dumb.

Not sure how aware you are of the genre, but sensing qi isn't like... sonar. It's just another physical sense Cultivators have. Not using it is less of a reasonable precaution and more blinding and deafening ourselves for very little or no benefit.

My friends, energy isn't free.

I mean, it is, I guess, in a way, in that everything around you has it and you get to take it because you're better than them but it does come from somewhere. And reforming those bodies probably isn't cheap.

They mentioned a programmatic response.

This is an array. Probably.

Fighting the gorillas is foolish, and wasteful. We could likely just waste enough power that they can't regenerate anymore, but that is the way of the Saber, of the Axe, of the Hammer, to strike with brute force, to strike until by that force the enemy is laid low.

The lightning bolt only strikes once.

We are a cultivator. Sense the flow of Qi within the gorillas and find out where it's centered. Then shoot it. Failing that, shoot those gorillas in the goddamn head. Then sense the flow of Qi and determine where that -somewhere- is. Then shoot it.

Or, as a certain sect would put it, close your eyes and look.

"That said, how long was it between you drinking your coffee and returning to your office? Was this on-site, or did you meet elsewhere?"

If it was nearby, it's possible the memory loss was due to some sort of drug or something similar. If not... it's possible it's the same situation, but somewhat less so.

Sweet merciful Buddha that sucked.

Note to self: don't do that again unless you absolutely have to.

Upside, conscious now. That meant at least her nervous system was in working order. Rest of it's just machinery. She can see, so the delicate tissues had stitched themselves back together. She wasn't feeling any bones actively popping themselves back into place. She'd be fine momentarily. I mean it sucks now but it'd pass.

She tries to rise from the stretcher and sort of tumbles off of it, raising a hand to a medic as her cheeks pull themselves back together, her heart-rate getting up to a nice sprint again.

"'ll be fine. Regenerator."

A perk, surely. She looks around, trying to find her... well, the people she was working with, as she waits for her body to finish the process of becoming fully functional again.

7
Yeah, no, we ain't doing that again.

The blood vessels in Sakurako's eyes pop. The ones in her skin, too. Normally this would just end up being bruises, but with her continual regeneration fighting the damage it mostly just ends up coloring her entire body a bright crimson as her heart begins to beat even faster, blood forcing itself through her body at such violent speeds that even her enhanced regeneration just can't keep up with it.

Hyper Clock Up

Then she rams the Wind infuser into her her heart and charges.

All things considered, the two remaining goons wouldn't even know what hit them. She'd grab them each by the throat, carrying them into the air with her upon the wings of a bloody tempest, and then turn, her eyes wide, mouth open in a lunatic grin, and drop them.

They seemed to move so slowly on their way down. That wouldn't last long, either.

Her wings flared out, fire burning through her body as it speeds up yet more, reaching a fever pitch as time stands still for a moment.

Hyper Clock Over

The cyclone bears her, and she swoops down upon them, striking them repeatedly one way, then the other, again and again, until her body was about to give out. Then she comes down one last time, from above this time, slamming the pair into the ground with the combined force of her accelerated body and the cyclone from within her.

Upside, she's sober after it's over.

Downside, given the amount of damage she probably is currently healing, she probably wishes she wasn't.

Burn all three resolve, a 5, and a 6. Clock up 5, Hyper Clock Up, and Hyper Clock Over in that order. Alter to a 5.

8
Well, this would be a pain in the ass. had to think quickly, she probably wouldn't maneuver very well underwater, even with her speed being what it was. Luckily, while her thoughts were pretty simple, they were still quite fast at the moment.

She reaches into her pouches, pulling out three vials, one in one hand, two in the other, and begins evading, kicking at sharks as they pass by her, using her wings like fins to propel herself out of their way, waiting for the largest to strike before she makes her move. When it does, her wings suddenly close inward, wrapping as tightly around her as possible as the hand holding one infuser jams into her chest over her heart, and the other punches the oncoming shark right in the snout, jamming the two that it holds into it and activating them.

The infuser that fills Sakurako's veins was one of Earth, rushing through her body and wings and hardening them, crystalizing them temporarily, working with her curses to attempt to make them tougher, more resilient... this would probably still hurt a *lot*, but it would make it more likely she'd have enough of her left after the gambit to heal.

The other hand held force and fire, which combined would have a nature of something like 'an explosion', Sakurako attempting to transmute the shark from liquid whateverthehell into what is essentally nitroglycerine, detonating it with enormous force and with luck launching her free of the larger shark.

Hell, if this was what it felt like it might hurt the guy using it pretty fierce, too.

Alter to 5, use Earth injector on self to increase defense as much as possible, and Force and Fire to turn one of the sharks, the largest if there are any differences, into a bomb.

9
Welp, not sticking around for that. Sakurako leaps into the air, hoping to get clear of the enclosing trap before it shuts... or if it does, get at least most of her body through, so that when it inevitably shears off whatever it hits the part that'll regenerate is on the outside. Should she make it out, in one piece or not, she'd attempt to launch herself toward D, leaping through the air and aiming a hip-slam into his waist before her lead foot plants into the ground, her waist and hips turning as her back leg comes up and slams heel-first into to his head once he's off-balance to take him down, assuming she has legs at this point.

Alter to 3. No Hyper.

10
Sakurako, rebounding off of her target's body, twists to land on her feet, just as one of her hands reaches out and grabs them by the front of their shirt to keep them from reeling too far. Then she takes off running, laughing maniacally as she twists, hurling her unfortunate victim up and forward, through the wall of screwdrivers and up above the phalanx, moments before following them up into the sky, charging into them shoulder-first and trying to use them as a human shield as she charges across the shoulders and heads of the soldiers beneath her, and upon reaching its end, hurl them bodily into the further of her two current enemies, pouncing herself upon the other, hoping to bear them through the table behind them and onto the ground, at which point she would begin slamming her fists onto the unfortunate's head, bouncing it repeatedly off of the floor until, preferably, they were no longer responding.

No Hyper use, no alterations.

11
That's fine.

These guys were pretty slow, all things considered, especially with Sakurako's blood thundering in her ears like it had been for a while now. She lands on her hands after hitting the man's face, regaining her freedom of movement just in time to throw herself to the side, not really rolling so much as skidding across the ground and flipping up onto a chair, which is promptly kicked into D's legs, Sakurako carrying her momentum over the table next to it, grabbing onto a convenient hanging light and attempting to slingshot herself back around, aiming for the one who'd summoned those crystal blades that'd almost impaled her, reasoning that they were probably the weakest to direct attack. If she was lucky, the hip-slam she was aiming at them would be enough to knock them away from their weapon, assuming it was still planted in the ground.

The 'Why' was pretty firmly fading now. She just knew that she had something that needed fighting, and that'd be enough for her.

Alter the 1 to a 3, burn the 4 for further Clock Up.

12
Ugh. More losers. Fine, they wall wanted some? Technically it wasn't against her job description to fight the miscreants, just to keep them from fighting the monsters. Which she supposed was honestly protecting them, in the long run.

Her heart pounds in her chest.

Her emotions surge to the forefront.

Those emotions weren't particularly nice at the moment, but hey, she managed to channel them into something that had a chance of not getting her into trouble

Why was she here again? She'd forgotten for a second.

Right. Bouncing. Kinda.

"[Your pal, dumbass, is so drunk he almost got himself killed, and didn't want ta get kicked out. You want to go with him? Fine. I'll crush all you bastards!]"

And with that, she deploys her wings, which was likely quite a sight considering that most people weren't used to peoples' blood vessels tearing themselves free of their body.

Let's be honest, while she might be able to fight these guys in a standup fight and win eventually, that wasn't really her thing. So she couldn't really keep this guy pinned and deal with his friends. Maybe one of the girls could do something, whatever. Worst case she beats the shit out of him some more.

"[Somebody hold this asshole.]"

And with that she rolls over, kicks off the man she'd been pinning, simultaneously launching him toward her two... allies? companions?

Whatever, the two she was reasonably sure wouldn't be fighting her.

And herself toward the one that was closing in on her, twisting in midair to attempt to slam her hip into his head, if she could land the hit.

Clock Up 4, using the 4 furthest to the right, no alterations. request allies subdue the guy that's currently stunned and flailing while I deal with his friend.

13
Spoiler: Clock Up (click to show/hide)

Gotta keep clock levels in check, too much and she won't be able to do her job after taking out this one guy. Best make sure he doesn't get to do anything, then. Once it becomes clear that he's not going to come quietly even wounded, she moves on to restraint techniques, lunging toward him, aiming to wrap her legs around his waist, jam her... chest area... into his face, and use her control of her blood vessels to force it to conform to him quite a bit more... violently than most, literally smothering him in it in an attempt to force him into unconsciousness or at least stop him from struggling.

This, she internally christened:

[Jujutsu: Mashumaro Jigoku]

She would not admit this to anyone.

not even herself when she sobered up.

God this would be really embarrassing later.

No hyper, no alteration.

14
"ah. Well."

She reaches out, gently resting a hand on his shoulder and leaning forward in what she really hoped was a distracting manner... she was imagining this guy was the cute white-haired darling from earlier which helped her get into character. "No need to worry about him, let's just get out of here, yeah?"

and then if he doesn't look to be complying, she'd sucker-punch him in the gut to hopefully wind him so that she can haul him out of the room by his ear. Or have someone else do it while she tries furiously to avoid people getting killed by the living cuisinart over there.

15
WELP.

This looked like it was going to be an absolute travesty, and now it'd gotten infinitely worse somehow.

Resolving herself to what may well end up being significant amounts of pain if this doesn't calm down quickly - as she reasoned that she'd be the only one that *could* reasonably try to contain whatever the hell that thing was, since even if it was some kind of fusion of a blender and a car accident she'd at least probably be able to heal at least, even if any contact with the thing would probably still suck if it came down to it. That said... yeah, best get over there as quick as she can, which... yeah given there's a good amount of distance between herself and the two and the fact that quite a few people were between them and actively moving away from what would likely shortly be a murder scene that would be a bit of a tough place to get through... Luckily part of keijo practice was learning some forms of acrobatics and the like, and if there was one thing she could do it was move fast. Just... had to be careful not to go too fast and make it impossible for her to actually talk properly.

Ideally, she gets a short running start, clocks up, and jumps, twisting in midair to try to land between the razor-thing and the man who had just physically assaulted it, the presence of the thing leaving maybe a little more restrained rage behind her eyes as she tries to get him to back off.

"Sir, you're drunk, please calm down and step away."

Hopefully she could either get him to back down or at least divert him away from actively attacking the fucking warform. She was at least passably sure she wouldn't kill him if he came at her, which was more than she could say about it.

that said, she had an eye on that thing, too, make sure it didn't engage either... she really hoped it didn't, she didn't want to have to fight the thing, it'd really suck.
