Goblin towers are obsidian? I thought they were slade.

I dont think slade even existed back when goblin towers existed, so yeah, they were built of obsidian.
and i doubt i want to see goblins living in tower built of stone that even dwarves cant mine.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: From "Beard" on the wiki
« on: April 18, 2012, 12:56:42 pm »
Quote
"There are some details of the body which are there for simply aesthetic reasons, and for no practical purpose—for instance, the nipples on a man's chest, and the beard on his face, the latter being clearly for a masculine ornament, not for protection. This is shown by the fact that women's faces are hairless, and since women are the weaker sex, it would surely be more appropriate for them to be given such a protection." City of God (c. 410) book 22, chapter 24

Ofcourse beard is for protection! Women didnt do any fighting in those times, so they wouldnt need beard for protection.
Men did all the fighting, so God Armok evolution gave them beards, to protect man's neck!

Why is this in the Dwarf mode discussion forum?

My first titan was a ball of mud whit a tail... man that was disappointing, poked him once with my iron scimitar and it collapsed.
It didnt even leave any remains for me to animate with my newly acquired necromancer skillz.

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Re: stacking coins of the same type
« on: March 15, 2012, 09:25:48 am »
easiet solution: dont carry coins, instead, trade them to diamonds and jewellery.
its also better to carry diamonds since they are worth the same in every place, but gold coin of X human civilization is pretty much worthless in another human civilization.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Industry Strategy?

First year industry: Make rock mugs out of everything, tons and tons of rock mugs. they are not pricey, but iirc 3 are made from single stone. plus, it quickly trains your craftsdwarves into legendary stonecrafters, which is rather useless skill however.

Later... i just sell everything i dont need, if i happen to need something from caravan.

Though you likely won't have any luck; few if any weapon/armor shops exist in .34.05. Your best bet is to try the marketplace. Barring that, imported goods stores will occasionally have weapons.

true, even if there are any shops, they either wont have any items to sell, or they have useless items.
One armorshop sold only copper gauntlets, nothing else but copper right and left gauntlets.

EDIT: btw, if you need weapons / armor, find keeps (can be found in larger towns and castles) there are usually tons of good equipment

When fast travelling, on the right side of the screen you should see what shops are nearby. then just travel around the town and when you see icon of a shop you need, then ">".

Metal related shops have black icons, so search for a black "/" for weapons and black "[" for armors

I have a feeling that these werecreatures are a bit too overpowered.
I havent met many, perhaps 6, and 5 times out of 6 I've been sneaking in there lair thinking im so totally gonna surprise that bastard, and next moment, peasant comes out of nowhere and usually bashes my weapon arm, or knocks me unconscious before i get to do anything.

that 1 time of those 6, i found werescorpion, who was weak to bronze, but i had to bronze weapons with me (one might ask, why did i go there) so i picked a bronze boot from his lair and whacked at his head, jamming his skull though brain

I got my ass kicked by bunch of bandits in the catacombs. After arrow struck me in the head, i fell unconscious, only to wake up after a while to see that all my companions were dead except one bowman, who came in to save me and allowed me to crawl out of the room and hide. decided that i needed a sleep to recover from the wounds, so i hid in a corner and slept 8 hours.
When i woke up, I noticed that i had arrow still sticking out of my head and left arm, so i pulled them out.

Pity that bandits had respawned so i had to fight my way out of there. One pikeman was easy, but on next room was a maceman, and crossbowman hiding in shadow.
Got pretty surprised when bolt struck my arm and i lost my iron pick. fell unconscious again, while crossbowman kept on bolting me, luckily the maceman bled to death.
Crossbowman must have shot all his bolts since he continued to bash me to head with his crossbow, but couldnt do anything since i had iron helmet + cap protecting me.
every once in a while I woke up and could bite or scratch him. After a long fight, i remembered that i can throw stuff at him even though i dont have working arms. managed to wound him so that he ran away, and i could crawl into safety again, and sleep.

Finally i found my way out of the catacombs, tired, hungry and almost dehydrated.
Since I lost ability to stand, and other arm was useless, i though i might retire there, as high master miner.

EDIT: btw, picks are awesome weapons. I cut mummy in half with one, after hacking his arms and legs off (though cutting him in half DID take a "few" hits)

please, no were-neolithic-dinosaurs :S
instead add: Werehydra, Weredragon and... and Wereroc!
btw, I liked that infernomancer. I could finally let my inner pyromaniac on loose and burn everything.
Again here are some cool fire-related spells.

Hey! A name suggestion for a mod: Twilight, new moon
*runs away before anyone throws anything*

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Re: How to kill a prone enemy?

You can use the "u" key to interact with an item of furniture or mechanism.  You stand next to the well and use it to lower and raise the bucket.  Once you've done that there'll be water available for drinking/filling waterskins in the bucket.  There's only 10 units in the bucket, so if you need to fill a lot of things just lower and raise it again.

oh so thats how they work. Thanks mate! appreciated that. Though i always just take a quick dip in a murky pool and suck my clothes dry. works like a charm. also if its raining
