Well, since starting this thread I'm more confused than ever.  At least this is all quite interesting at the same time :D

On the bright side, it seems that the intel plays TF2 better than my old Toshiba, but I wonder why I get such terrible lags on DF with this computer compared to my old one though...

out of curiosity, is this thread intended to reach the mind of Toady so that he considers adding sewage, or simply to discuss the possibility with the community?

ugh.  this is distressing.  "comparable model" the sales guy said when I was getting a replacement under warranty.  "comparable model" my a$$.  My old computer could run 4x4 embarks complete with temperature and water features PDQ up until around 60 migrants!

I'll get the specs for my old computer soon; my mother has an identical model...

this is good to know.  Where can I find my current chipset?

I have no clue what my old computer had, unfortunately.  As I said, I'm not that proficient with computers, but my closest guess as to what the graphics chipset in my current computer (which I found in my 'device manager' under 'display adapters') is "Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family

if that's not a graphics chipset, then I probably don't know what one looks like, which is very likely.
