Hmm... how would you handle the complicatedness of wrestling in real time?

Ice. It's easy and simple to just embark on a frozen ocean and carve a fort out of it. Looks good too once you smooth it all out.

Goblins are actually taller than Dwarves by quite a bit in DF.

With all this pleasure nonsense, is it still possible to mistreat and torment a dwarf systematically until he no longer cares anymore?

Depending on if I want safety and efficiency underground or something fancy and showy above ground, I'll usually start the same way(barring certain terrifying biomes). I dig a staircase straight into the soil, with a large massive entrance to quickly train my miners while the wood choppers fill the area up with as much wood as they can in the immediate area. Then I wall the area in and build a large 3x3 starcase going straight down with branches for anything I need until all the basics are done. If I can't immediately get farming underway I'll dig down to the caverns and wall off the immediate area for a few crops. Higher areas are storage and things like masons, and lower areas are the bedrooms, below which is the dining room closest to the farms. I usually don't go for magma at this point since the large open soil spaces tend to grow fungus trees and I'm all set to prepare for whatever I want.

If I'm near an incline or cave, I'll always dig horizontally into it for a long hallway to later line with areas for my dwarves to fire from and drawbridges. If I eventually want to build a fortress aboveground, and it's in a large enough hill or mountain, I'll plan ahead and build the inside of it first, save in the ground, and then hollow the fortress out of the mountain and engrave as much of it as I can.

Goblins also don't age, like elves, so if you're lucky you can kill goblins that were around since the beginning of history. All lining up to get eviscerated in some masterwork trap hallway.

PSX is looking pretty rad so far. Though most of them don't seem to capture the weird-ass Hussie storytelling style.

Though the Critical Miss whale telling Eridan what I have been thinking for awhile now is nice.

This just goes to show; goblins are not inherently evil, it is their upbringing or surroundings which make them the cruel monsters we know them as.

Sorry mate, but i cant bring up sympathy for someone who has so much good dwarven blood on his hands...
R.I.P Zan Oltaridor

How else are goblins going to rescue Dwarf children from the death traps known as dwarf fortresses without killing a few?

I wish we could 'fix' those dwarves.

And get Urist to finally admit his love for Dwarf Big Brother before ordering him into the room for his lava bath?

It's too bad they can't successfully dodge the world instead.

In 40d I gouged out the eyes of everyone in a village, broke the bones of anyone who could actually fight me afterwards, and then left them like that.

Heh. Had this happen recently. The baby got snatched the same day the mom got released.

Lucky baby.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Decent Fort?

AlwayzL3git, don't think too much about wealth-production or things like "auto-butcher" etc. All you really need to have a successful fortress is Dwarf Therapist and a drawbridge or two for turtling. All forts are different, and after a certain wealth value nothing really changes as far as sieges or people attacking you goes.

I tend to have legendary miners so quickly that they sort of fade into the background. Legendary smiths are what I really hate losing, especially one that has good attributes and likes/dislikes. Other than that, I tend to grow attached to random dwarves, particularly mechanics.

Well I found a parrot on an island hopping around looking angry. I couldn't interact or grab it, so I declared war on it and my crew wound up killing it.
