DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: What's going on in your fort?
« on: April 01, 2017, 02:15:11 am »

Oh.

Well.

That'll come in handy I guess.

It was a possession too. Dude was building this right next to a smelter with literally hundreds of bars of gold.

Sorry if this is discussed earlier, I only looked back three pages.

I have a fort that crashes on load (the black screen right after the loading progress bars disappear and right before the game proper begins) with DFhack enabled - but loads perfectly fine without DFHack. I'm toggling DFHack on and off through the PyLNP launcher. I've tried menu-saving and loading (I use quicksave a lot, since the game crashes a lot) and that doesn't help. I do have TWBT turned on. Maybe that's the reason? I have workflow turned off, since I've heard that has issues. What logs and such do you need to diagnose this?

This self-extracting save archive should contain the issue (this save is from a succession game).

The mining priority isn't labor priority, it's the order they mine in. So if I had a mining designation like:
Code: [Select]
12321
12321
12321
then they'd do the 1, then the 2, then the 3. Even if the 3 was a 7, they'd go do it after they mined out the 2s.

Sure, but my dwarves are nonetheless only doing 1s through 3s. And they're not doing anything else... maybe there's a dig site they can't get to that's jamming them up?

Well, shit, they're mining now. I set my aquifer digging to priority 1 and they started right away, even though they wouldn't do the priority-4 digging right next to them. So... I guess "do nothing" was of priority 3 or 2.

EDIT:

Oh, the other thing is, I have a bunch of folks with a bunch of legendary skills (Look, DF is a hard game, arrite?) whom I conscripted. They don't seem to want to ever stop training. I thought Toady took out the "non-working champions" thing; am I mistaken?

EDIT:

And now all but one of the miners has decided to Do Nothing instead. They're not wounded or trapped or anything, they're just hangin' in the meeting room. Seems like as soon as they ran out of priority-1 designations they stopped working altogether. Really, really weird.

EDIT:

Yup, and as soon as I lay down some 1-s they go right to it.

Can't be, I don't have any burrows. Maybe it's a pathing issue? It's about 100 z-levels betwixt the main fort and the magma source.

They will do furniture and hauling jobs, though. I'm gonna see if they do other kinds of workshops.

EDIT:

Not markers, marker designations are blue and these are definitely orange-brown.

What's a "civilian alert"? I've been out of the loop for years.

Title tells the story. My miners have mining turned on, they've got picks, I've got designations all over in areas I know they can access, and they're not digging. I have a magma forge in the depths that's been sitting there unconstructed for years; I have at least three dwarves with metalsmithing enabled, one of them with nothing else enabled.

I had this problem even worse in the fortress before this one; one day the dwarves just refused to work entirely. They just don't seem to want to do any work that isn't done in a workshop (they seem to do that stuff just fine.)

Is this a known bug or something stupid I'm doing or what?

I do have DFHack installed and Fastdwarf turned on, but turning it off and/or restarting with it off does nothing. I'm on 40.24. Is this a known issue or what?

DF Community Games & Stories / Quakefocus - Dragons Already?

I didn't get yelled at last time I posted an off-site fort here, so I'm doing it again.

Quakefocus is a succession fortress I started over on MythWeavers, a site usually dedicated to playing tabletop RPGs over the internet. In the first two years the fort became a Barony, captured a dragon in a green glass cage, and imprisoned a vampire The Cask of Somethingorother-style.

However, we have a slight shortage of players; we're halfway down the list already (I'm next!). Experienced DFers are, therefore, encouraged to apply.

Hi all,

I just remembered this place randomly, and decided to show up for a moment to apologize for the way I acted while I was here. I behaved like a mid-adolescent arsehole, because at the time I was one. I figured I might as well make some sort of minor amends.

Thanks.

Actualy, Roll To Roll To Dodge was never the only one to have a TvTropes page, I'm pretty sure Multiworld Madness had one, and Netland had one before RTRTD ever came about.

Toly: Get a map of the whole ship, download useful information, and override ship security. Discreetly.
Sinpwn: Find the nearest important computer thing and rock it's circuits out. Then find Tolyk.
Fuzzy: Examine computed core in detail.
Rag: Compose a varient of the Thunder spell to wreck computer systems, such as AI constructs

Toly: 6

yeahno

You have George download the entire ship's memory and upload the important bits to your HEV suit.

"Shodan definitely knows where we are, now. I suggest that we flee."

Sinpwn:

RAWK LAWBSTER

You find Toly.

Fuzzy:

It is big and tall and has a big screen on it. Besides that, it's rather unremarkable.

Rag: 5

You succeed.
