Is there an alternate place to store pictures that doesn't involve failure on a massive scale?  Because if you know of one I'll gladly put my pictures somewhere that doesn't suck...
but there's no fullscreen option on Photobucket, to my knowledge.

It's nothing to do with the .jpg and everything to do with photobucket shrinking my photo to obscurity after I upload it.  The original is big enough to read easily, but photobucket is bad and should feel bad.

This child was quite obviously the mayor's illegitemate love-baby.
You were just used to ice the kid so the mayor can ascend to a higher office one day.

How does it feel to be the scum of the earth?  ;D

I just had a great one yesterday.  Opened my magma floodgates for a test run, and to fill my moat with magma.
Then subsequently discovered that certain types of mechanisms will melt under the stress of magmafication.  Could not shut magma gate.  Just as I'm scrambling to find a way to enact Operation Emergency Shutoff, one of my critical dorfs gets possessed by a mood and wants turtle shell and two "stone".  What kind of stone is utterly beyond me.

Fun was soon to follow.

I can't get any beginner quests that don't involve "go kill a giant."
I'm a noob and can't kill a giant as a beginner.
This is problematic because I am an adventure mode noob and am not quite sure how to level up my skills/stats.

[edit] Just killed one, although he almost took my leg off in the process...

Started a new fort in a magma pipe (in case my posts yesterday about magma and why it wasn't working weren't an indication).
After having only 7 dorfs for a year, I got an immigrant wave of 13, including a child.  I now have to find, in my volcano fortress, work for (in approximate order of desirability:
a miner, ranger, armorer, trapper, jeweler, leatherworker, tanner, cook, cheese maker, fisher and fish dissector.

There are no fish on my map.
There is no water in my map.
There are barely any trees on my map, and the ones that exist I'm trying oh so hard to turn into barrels and bins.  Meanwhile my carpenter is sitting around having a party with himself.

On the upside, I've got a bazillion Obsidian crafts to sell for bookoo moneys!

[edit] Apparently the migrant wave wasn't done when I posted.  I've got a wood burner.  On a barren magma map. -_______________________-

[double edit] My two miners, chief badasses of the whole fort and slayers of several Fire Imps, have just gotten married!

My eyes were gouged out by a carp.
But Urist McFeymood made me an artifact pair out of pine that menace with spikes of zircon and are circled with bands of obsidian.

I solved my idiot dilemmas.  I had forbidden and locked my door, just in case the magma overflowed and tried to Fun my whole base.  Now that I've un-forbidden the doors, I'm feeling retarded, but at least I can get my smelting up and running.  Still no luck on the anvil though.  It appears I'm stuck until I can afford a steel one (or make such an anvil)

[edit]
I haven't felt this retarded about solutions this obvious since I tried taking a programming course.  Anvil at trade depot = anvil that can't be used to build.  All my industries are in full swing now.  ::)

More silly questions!
I have successfully channeled liquid hot magma into my Fort.  I now face the challenge of using that magma.

Will Dorfs dig into warm rock?
When I try to build a Magma Forge, I get a message that I don't have access to a magma-proof anvil.  My anvil is made of Iron, which (according to the wiki) is magma-proof.  Do I need a Steel anvil to get anything done?
I have set my Magma Smelter to build but, despite having a person with Architecture (who is not busy at the moment, having the No Job flag prominently displayed, he's not making with the smelter.

New question: There are 3 fire imps just standing around the volcano's top, sitting on their own thumbs.  If I activated all 7 of my dorfs (2 reasonably good Miners, 5 noobs with crap for gear) would those 3 imps Fun me, or are they smalltime?

I'm trying to pipe magma from a channel into my Fort in order to run some Magma industry.  What's the best way to carve out the last part of the tunnel that will NOT get my Miner dorfs killed in a horrible fiery death that will subsequently send all my other dorfs magma-diving to get at their equipment, killing all 7 of them in a hilarious but unproductive conflagration?  I've got the channel dug all the way up to the walls of the pipe, but I haven't opened the last wall yet.
