Oh I am so excited for the result of this mod. As for the Onion-Workshop idea, I think if you want to do that you could make it so that it accepts Plants/Animals and produces whatever it was supposed to. (I don't know what you expect it to make yet...) Would this idea work?
That's the notion. It'll take corpses and (if I'm apprehending correctly) produce seeds that can be turned with an interaction into the appropriate of the three primary pikmin colours.
You can't turn plants into animals.
If that's the case, I would estimate that the seeds aren't plants.

Remind me which civ we're using?

I'll start this later tonight. Just got back from college (which I'm given to understand is basically High School in Yank terms) and am just on my way out for a couple of unavoidable hours.

Oy vey, it's not like it's a big spoiler. What happens when someone who doesn't know what candy is sees the word candy is they either figure it out, ask what it is, or google it. I understand that calling it candy is tradition, but calling it by its proper name is hardly a sackable/hammerable offence.

As one of the people who would very much like to keep it 4x4 so my computer doesn't explode with impotent rage, I'm totally cool with other participants using 5x5. My fort will be among the first to die anyway, no doubt, and it is, after all, not a competition.
Also, am I the only British person playing? If so, it will be Fun posting constantly out of sync.

I quite like Metrupion's embark point.

I'm in favour of the workshop approach at this stage. It feels more natural than to have them be the females of the species, and it allows for a more complex reproduction system that's more true to the source material.

I've never embarked anywhere evil or haunted before.
Let's rock and roll.

If you'd be willing to bring the embark size down to 4x4 (my computer runs primarily on hope and force of will), I'd love to join in this.

For a start, search for Kobold Camp.

If you don't want to do any actual work, I'd suggest finding mods that have a particular flavour of human and elf, like the TES mod or the WH mod and just porting your preferred civs in place of the vanilla humans and elves.

Not sure if this is wholly within the realms of possibility, and if it is if and how it would be used depends on how you flavour the in-game Pikmin, but you could include a human/dwarflike Hocatatian society (maybe fluffed as a colony?), and combine their corpses with seeds to make Olimin-style heavies for carrying stuff/serving as fodder/generally serving as slaves to the SUPERIOR PURE PIKMIN RACE.

A dwarf of variable physical description, but with both of his arms cut off just below the shoulder, with the stumps constantly gushing fountains of blood. His blood is also magma if he happens to feel like it.

Maybe removing everything our scale and replacing it with small stuff would be a good idea. Having trees that are named after types of grass and other plants for example. You'd need to think of what other civs would be appropriate.
This was the original plan.
Bulbmin seem the natural choice for an opposing civ.
