Just double-checked, and yes this is with 43.03-b. Here's a screenshot with the SST pack, definitely looks better.

I'm having the same issue on an MBP running 10.11.5 with Xquartz 2.7.9. Turning on vsync got rid of the scanlines in the menu sections, but the tiles still look odd with borders.

I've updated the file to fix a couple of issues. Primarily outdated graphics pack raws. Same download link.

DF General Discussion / Unofficial MacNewbie pack update for 42.06
« on: March 29, 2016, 12:22:48 pm »
Things have been quiet on the MacNewbie pack front for a little while. In the meantime, I've put together a working (as far as I've been able to test so far) update of the pack. This includes DFHack 42.06-alpha2, and the most recent Text Will be Text update (5.58). I've also added the 42.06 memory layout for Dwarf Therapist, thanks to sv-esk, and updated the manifest files for the graphics packs. Uploading a modification of someone else's work feels a little weird, but I wanted to share what I did to get things working for myself. If the consensus is that it's an issue, I'll take it down. Also, of course, if fricy takes issue with it. If something's not working, let me know and I'll take a look.

Download it here

Known Issues:
  • If you change graphics sets, you will probably need to change the print mode in the launcher UI to either Standard or TWBT depending on which set you use. I'm working on eliminating the need for this.

DF Announcements / Re: Dwarf Fortress 0.42.01 Released

I think placing civilizations is probably a good candidate for freezes, since that's where all the new art forms are generated.  I just haven't gotten it to reproduce yet, so I can't yet fix it.

This happens to me 100% of the time with the OS X version. I ran dtruss to see what was happening when it freezes.

gettimeofday(0xBFFFE2C0, 0x0, 0xB100)       = 1449005645 0
open_nocancel("data/save/current/feature-5-2.dat\0", 0x20002, 0x0)       = -1 Err#2
open_nocancel("data/save/region1/feature-5-2.dat\0", 0x20002, 0x0)       = -1 Err#2
__disable_threadsignal(0x1, 0x0, 0x0)       = 0 0
workq_kernreturn(0x4, 0x0, 0x0)       = 0 0

It hangs while writing out to the dat files, and drops into an infinite loop of thread control calls. I've tried multiple world sizes/types.

I believe that fixes only the first golem reaction (iron presumably). Here is one which should fix it for all golem reactions (i.e copper, gold, adamantium etc).

Ah, crap, you're right.  My bad.  Updated my post to point at your link so no one gets the wrong file.

I uploaded a fixed version of inorganic_zmaster_work.txt that has all of the castes added for the golem reaction.  You can grab it here: I forgot about other materials.  Grab Floblulon's fixed file here:  http://www.mediafire.com/?l7r81ilg7glo4c3

I've repacked the OS X version and sent the file to Meph so he can publish it.  Still working on a settings app for the OS X side.

@Meph Are there any instructions for how to manually change settings for the OS X users?

For OS X users:

Sorry, I should have written a quick readme to point out that you launch the game via the df script, like the OS X version of vanilla.  This is the "default" Masterwork settings.  I started looking tonight at the best way to get the Masterwork version of Therapist up and running.  I sent Meph a PM for some info on the settings GUI so that I can work on building an OS X settings app.

Are people interested in having just a MasterworkDF.app that they can run?  What I'm thinking is it will launch the settings/utilities GUI, and you could use the play button from there to launch the actual game.

@dix: Hell if I know. I cant test on MacOs, since I have no Mac. Ask kudakeru. ^^

Oh, uh, crap.  I'll be home in about three hours.  I kind of completely spaced the settings application.  I'll have to think about the best way to do that.  Dix, you were able to get the Masterwork version of DT to run in WINE?  I don't want to make it a requirement, but I'm probably going to have to work with Meph to merge code from his modifications with the OS X version of DT.  The settings app I'll just have to build an OS X equivalent for.  That'll actually be the easier part.

For now the OS X package runs with the default MasterworkDF settings.  Sorry about that, folks.  I put it together while on the bus on my way to work this morning.

Everything I've seen so far is in English, so I'm guessing that it does detect a user's language.  Probably based on a UserAgent query.

DF General Discussion / Dwarf Fortress in OS X 10.8 and beyond
« on: February 21, 2012, 11:24:13 am »
Anyone currently running the dev preview of Mountain Lion has probably run into some issues launching the game.  Namely due to an error loading libfreetype.  Apple has deprecated SDL support as part of their move to deprecate X11 in general.  There's an easy fix, though.  They've pushed everything X11 to the XQuartz group.  Installing XQuartz will fix the libfreetype errors you get when attempting to launch DF.

You can grab XQuartz here: http://xquartz.macosforge.org/trac/wiki/Releases

Has anyone had any luck getting the OS X version to do anything other than crash immediately at launch?  I've relaunched everything a few dozen times now, with no luck.

For the OS X users:

If you right-click the app and click "Show Package Contents", you can click through to Contents\Resources\etc.  The ini files for the offsets live there.  Unfortunately I'm in the middle of a sprint at work, so I probably won't have time to test offsets on the OS X side until after work tonight.

DF General Discussion / Re: The DF 0.31.05 Work-In-Progress Thread

SDL version crashes on every attempt to start. Windows 7, 64-bit, nothing touched; no errorlog.txt, else I'd post it.

I ran into this issue on a clean install the other day.  For me it was just that I needed to change print mode to something that didn't crash.  Turned out I hadn't installed my video card drivers yet, so OpenGL modes weren't functioning.
