DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Re: INTERACTIONS!!!!!!!!!
« on: August 31, 2011, 07:08:10 pm »
I really do hope undead minions are uncapped. One of the first things I want to do in .26 is animate an army and wage war on HFS. Until all of the HFS is undead and under my command. Then the Age of the Undead shall truly begin.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Mmmm, Were-elephant.
« on: May 31, 2011, 01:00:32 pm »
So, with .26 looming, I figured I'd go into a bit of speculation. Assuming you can butcher a were-creature in its animal form, how long do you think it will be before someone has set up a were-farm? You capture goblins, get them infected, kill them in their infected form, and butcher the corpses. It would work best with something big, like elephants. Or even better, an ocean creature that wold suffocate upon transformation. You'd need away to keep the infecting were-creature alive though.

I'm sorry, but Ngogngo sounds like a fast food restaurant.

You clearly didnt read the post. I already modified the first post and said that i used notepad on the text here because, for some reason everytime i press a key to write something like i am doing right now in the "Post Reply" seccion, the side scroll bar over there >>>> moves up and i cant see anything i just wrote and i have to scroll down every time. So i said "fuck it" and went to notepad without checking the spelling, that way was more faster.
And again, i just started and because this game is know for its very good realistic physics even if the game its still in ALPHA. And because it has been proven that doesnt stop the rest of the players to try even to cut all the trees of the world to see a diference in the weather, after all, its time consuming and completely unnesesary (and they will end up doing it anyway)

So what you're saying is you either can't spell without a spell checker, or you are too lazy to check your own spelling? Posting is not F-Zero. You can spend an extra couple of minutes fixing a few of the more grievous errors, and it would make a world of difference. If people can't comprehend your posts, you fail to get your point across, and those minutes of your time trying to explain your ideas and experiences were just wasted. When you post in a forum, you are writing for other people, not yourself. You'd be much better received on this or any other forum if you just spend the extra minute or two making things legible, notepad or not.

I thought the general requirments to post in any forum was to have better grammer than a rock? well...whatever

1)The post was created for all the people who wants to do a time consuming mega proyect in the name of DWARF SCIENCE!!!
2) use the short version if dont want to read
3) its spelt "requirements" no "requirments"

thx ^_^
He wasn't complaining about the length, he was complaining about the grammar. Such as proyect, dont, and spelt. The two mistakes he made in his post were easy mistakes to make. I know I have a spacebar on my keyboard that isn't always responsive, and grammer does sound close to grammar. I have no idea how you can misspell wrestling as wrestriling, not to mention all the lower case i's and bronce.

Longcat is long.

(Sorry, it was just too obvious.)

BLOCK OUT THE SUN.

WE MUST DO IT.

I think that people already do this to avoid the consequences of cave adaptation.

Nope. The evil star is more tenacious than Forgotten Beast blood. Once light hits a tile that square will forever be contaminated, even if you build all around and above it.

Also, I must know if lorddio's first language isn't English. Age is not an excuse for misspellings that atrocious, but English as a second or third language might be. Although to be fair I do want to mod in wrestriling.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: THIS! IS! SPARTA!

Both genders train and play naked in sporting events, and are treated equally when it comes to sports. It is up to you to determine what these sport are, but I recommend something that involves merchants and/or attackers, to simulate the Olympics. (That is the only fact I can remember at the moment, but I know I learned more.)

(And because I couldn't resist coming up with a sport, dwarven darts: build a massive enclosed arena with a floor colored like a dartboard, and a platform up high on one side (think diving board), with a cage on the edge. The dwarf attacks the creature that was in the cage, and the creature's corpse, head, or other limb gets knocked somewhere onto the dartboard. Wherever the corpse, head, or body part ends up determines the points. If multiple limbs land on different parts of the dartboard, the priority for scoring is head>body>first limb to land.)

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Is there any advantage to HFS?
« on: May 12, 2010, 10:55:18 pm »
other than adamantine theoretically yes, if you have demons made of valuable materials and can thoroughly and efficiently kill them without destroying the bodies.

It's because they go crazy when you try to chop down the eldritch horror spawn of their "nature" gods. Think about it. Trees are massive, living, unmoving things. They grow constantly, and have numerous tendril-like appendages. They have no eyes, no ears, no mouth, and yet somehow the elves can supposedly communicate with them. They can outnumber every non-HFS creature in a world, and more keep spreading like a plague. When one has you in its grasp your only escape is through quick travel. These horrible entities must be destroyed on sight before they consume the whole world, or worse, wake up from their eternal slumber.

Combine Greep and your ideas. Build your own custom strange construct, and place a bin full of gold coins at the center with pressure plates surrounding it, any of which will trigger a cave-in which reopens the HFS.

The question is what level of badass it is. Is it running in front of a large demon horde, leading the demon horde into an elven resort badass, or is it swimming in an ocean until you encounter a whale with a white coloring, then killing it with your bare hands and using the corpse as a weapon badass.

14
Some demons are gas and can pass through fortifications.

Good try though.

Can anyone else verify this? I'm very skeptical.

Steam demons, man. I had them.

Luckily steam demons are one of the only demon types that are vulnerable to magma, and even seal the HFS for you.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Wood Vs. Stone (Oh yes I did)
« on: May 03, 2010, 11:14:11 am »
Wood is useful only for barrels, bins, doors, ash, and charcoal. (why doors? Because I like my doors to match, that's why.)

Beds. Also cages until you have glass production going. Because glass' campaign holds water.
