Newer to Adventure mode, my current adventure mode has my female swordsdwarf roaming the woods using her teeth in lethal ways, on everything in sight. Chickens, geese, dogs, wolves, elves, you name it. She will occasionally do things on random attack that outright frighten me, like severing a wild chicken's beak, biting it's tongue, latching on, and shaking it around until it bleeds to death. For a baseline, this was about 10 minutes of biting.



That was all done by her teeth.

I tend to bite limbs off of anything that attacks me, then Throw it back using the tooth responsible for said limb removal. It's just another way to say hello, really. Especially with bogeymen.

If I didn't have to work tomorrow, I would totally be running an adventurer right now.
Even so, I managed to get Final Fantasy XIV working on my system that doesn't even meet the minimum requirements, but DF will lag out at lower populated areas than this beast of a 15 GIGABYTE game. It's madness I tell you, MADNESS!!!

Playing with this using my PSP(hacked) as a monitor works beautifully, especially with a total of 4.3 inches of 480x272 fury. Clear and readable through it all, and it looks wonderful too!

did you make an active burrow?
I believe that can cause all of your problems if it doesn't have the areas you are trying to use designated as part of the burrow.

My more recent forts are a little on the strange side for a lack of efficiency.
Start with a 29 tile wide circle channeled out, make that circle 10-15z deep, and have a circular walkway going down the shaft in squares 30-33. To get to the walkway, you have a 1 tile wide catwalk, filled with weapon traps, usually made out of green glass serrated discs for ease of creation, to make it !!FUN!! for invaders. Near the bottom of my dwarfmade chasm/pit there are magma safe floodgate linked to levers for an obvious purpose, but with a way to drain the magma from the bottom and stop the flow of magma from the top, so I can collect precious goblinite.
My fort proper is usually around z-1 to z-5, with each floor having an intended purpose, including a separation of regular workshops and magma furnaces/forges, sleeping quarters and dining area, farming/food stocks/booze creation/kitchen, and graves/trade depot. I only tend to embark on areas with both easy access to magma and a ready supply of clean water, so I can survive readily if I want to.

The only way that a DF movie would suck for me is if it was directed by Uwe Boll and written by 4Kids TV. After seeing the travesties the 2 of them have had a hand in, I want no part of either.
