DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Re: No slab? WTH?

Ah, that must be it then!

I just genned a different world, and got lucky in one of the 2 necromancer towers: the slab was under-guarded so I could pilfer it without too much fuss!

No more floors, no interactions whatsoever. The stairway up on the second floor does not lead anywhere

Weird... what I did was simply to walk around the (offscreen) tower, and I clearly saw all the corpses I had collected and thrown away (to keep them from being raised again), still lying there.

when I re-entered the tower, there was no necro in sight (on the ground floor), but the tower was again packed full of zombies: where would they come from? there were no corpses ready to be raised anywhere nearby.

I tried all of the above, but there's absolutely nothing!

Also, apparently corpses respawn inside the tower even though the necro isn't there anymore...

I'll just build another world I guess!

In my current world there was only 1 (ONE) necromancer... In the legends he's listed as the creator of 4 of the 5 existing artefacts (4 useless books). The last artefact of course is the slab with the secrets of life and death!
All the artefacts are listed as "stored in *whatevername*.

I spent a couple of hours depleting the tower of all the corpses, kiting them outside and shooting rocks at them, then throwing the corpses away so they wouldn't get reanimated...
Killed the necromancer (on the 2nd floor) easily... and the tower is completely devoid of slabs! Indeed, I only found 2 of the 4 books that were supposed to be there... what gives?
The 2nd floor has stairs up, but the 3rd floor is only air, so you can't actually go there.

Any ideas? Am I missing something?

Re-read what you wrote: are you asking, ON DF THE ADVENTURE MODE BOARD, whether doing something would be WRONG to do? We don't have such silliness around here, you know!

(on the fortress mode board, someone would have answered your question with "MAGMA!!!")

I haven't been getting any caravans from the mountainhome in a while.
EDIT: Forgot to mention that this hasn't happened to me while using vanilla DF. Could it be a bug, or just bad luck?
Just bad luck, my today-raws dorf caravan arrived on time. Have you have many citizen die? That deters migrants sometimes. And if you have somehow managed to piss off the parent civ, then points to you.

Edit: How the "all animals are war trained" do vs. kobbo thief:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Awesome, man! May I inquire as to how you captured the text you posted here? I am guessing you didn't write it down by hand, did you?

A boss axeman, fainted after I broke his toe with a kick, then "survived" (for 1 turn) the loss of all 4 limbs at the joint...

I just found a human (Keeper in Genesis) boss that was so badass he survived the chopping of all four limbs at the joint: now he's just a body with a head!
Now as soon as I unpause I guess he'll finally die of bloodloss, but still it's my first time with humanoids!

Or if you feel like cheating, mod your race's bite to be as Fun as the GCS's: they can't kill you if they can't move!

Not to detract from your well-deserved smugness, I'm not sure if it's the speed the main factor, or rather the monster's size and toughness: I once pummelled a cyclops until he passed out from pain, then proceeded to bite off nose, ears, every single toe and finger. I took my time, and he did not die (yet). Unfortunately I wasn't strong enough to chop limbs off so I inadvertently bled him to death while trying to sever one of his arms... shame!

Berry weapons... why?

.... I love the idea!

Basically there are no special items or artifacts in the game unless you create a fort and your dwarves create them, and in that case you can only get to them with an adventurer after abandoning the fort at which point the items will be scattered to random places around the fortress map. (Assuming no hacks like runesmith, dfusion, dflair, etc.)
You can prevent or at least reduce scattering by putting important items in very heavy bins (lead or gold work well). It also saves having to search for the damn stuff!

I normally use throw a megabeast as an opening gambit...
Only when i'm sick of the lack of challenge I bog my adventurer down with 2 dragons and dual-wield them: it's cool but depressingly uneffective...
