How do I get dwarves to build workshops? How do the dwarves build things like beds, chairs, doors, and furniture-based items on the build list? Everything else as well. And one more: How do dwarves brew and where do they get the supplies from? Farms?

Nice! They are indeed legendary miners. I've given them a lot to mine and I have even more for them to do once they're finished with the current designations. I'd like to see a dwarf on fire someday, that'd be hilarious! Not so much for the dwarf, but funny to watch.

I figured out a few more questions since I now have a population of 20 dwarves. To begin with, how would I start building my fortress? I think I need to start doing that with the migrants I've obtained.And what should I do with an idle doctor? I swear, after everytime the doctor does something, she goes idle. and one more question for now: why are my miners blinking gray and white?

I've looked over the list of professions twice and not once have I seen the "farmer" profession. Either I'm skipping over it or else it's not there at all.

HELP! message says: the exception unknown software exception (0x40000015) occurred in the application at location 0x78b2d635. Click on OK to terminate the program. Click on CANCEL to debug the program.

I have only run the program once. I think only way to fix this is to delete the files I have and re-download them again onto my flashdrive. But why did I get that message?

Thanks! You may have given me more information than I need, Hyndis, but perhaps in the future I will be building multi-level walls. I haven't played DF in such a long time I'm just (re)learning basics for now.
