DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: maxing savagery in world creation
« on: May 17, 2015, 03:30:08 pm »
You can also tweak the range values so that you have 90% of the world is between 80-100 savagery and 10% of the world is between 0-20.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: What's going on in your fort?
« on: May 17, 2015, 02:42:50 pm »
Just opent up the caverns and was quickly attacked by a giant cave spider. I have to say that I remember them as beeing stronger

Note that after checking that farmer is noticed that he is only "dabling" in any of the military skills. Were GCS nerfed?

edit I just noticed that said farmer "absolutely detests cave spiders". I suppose he also likes to explode them.

Had a magma related accident once while a FB with syndrome blood was attacking in the lower parts of the fort. This saved my fort quite well.

DF Suggestions / Mining skill
« on: April 05, 2012, 01:50:49 am »
I can't be the only one who thinks it's strange that dabbling miners destroy stone. So my idea is that instead of making the mining skill determine the chance of finding anything useful in the material make it decide the weight of the stone found (sort of like checking for purity). So that a highly skilled miner will only mine out the gold while a dabbling miner will mine out all the useless material around it. Once it is made into something it's weight will go back to the normal value. It would tie in nicely with the current minecarts thing as a dabbling miner would leave very heavy rocks which are almost impassible to move.

DF Suggestions / Re: Make "...has been missing for a week" more useful
« on: April 05, 2012, 01:46:35 am »
I would like to see it as a timer using the total relationship value as a sort of count down. Give every dwarf a missing value of 5 000 and subtract the total relationship value of that dwarf of the the total every day (close friend =100 so if he only has 1 friend he will be reported after 50 days).

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Beware the Giant Sponge

It's interesting that after all this the sponge or giant sponge doesn't have a wiki page jet....

So maybe toady could instead of trying to optimize the calculations during world gen try to make write some of the data in the ram memory to the hard disk (into some temporary file).

Great by the way are giant sponges supposed to get enraged and pull dwarfs into the river?

If you just want to get rid of them and you have magma you can trow them into that as well (if you do this for fps gain this is a better idea since it avoids to much blood in your fortress ). no matter what you choose simply go to the level you want to drop the from select zone select pasture and select the tiles you want to drop them from. This will order your dwarfs to drop them.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: How to build a Dodge Me! trap?
« on: June 22, 2011, 03:36:49 pm »
And remember that if you are going to use weapon traps then you need to use low quality weapons and mechanisms as this will cause the enemy to dodge more often. However if you are using upright weapon traps then you should use high quality mechanisms and low quality spears as this allows for more attacks (in upright weapon traps mechanism quality determines attack speed (if you have a good mechanism in the lever aswell) whereas in weapon traps the mechanism determines the hit rate).

Just to update on that lasher squad, one of my lashes took one single hit on a forgotten beast just now.

"The Lasher lashes The Forgotten Beast in the head with her (iron whip) and the severed part sails off in an arc!"

So yeah, they're pretty good.
What kind of FB was it? Liquid FBs usually go down in a single hit but steel FBs are very difficult to kill.

Try to survive using only stone-fall traps for defense. It should be quite challenging.

Starvation, exile, or goblins... Choices, choices....
never forget the dwarven cure-all for what ails you: magma.

Sadly i have not dug down to the magma yet.

Then give him a pick and let him dig down until he meets the magma.
