DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Re: What's going on in your adventure?

So, I threw a stone at a trapdoor in adventurer mode. When I went through the trapdoor, the stone I threw hit me in the back of the head and broke my upper spine. How does that even work? Trapdoors must be fucking stasis fields or something. Either way, I was promptly crushed by the two night terrors inside.

It's pretty enjoyable to knock someone down with a charge stab to the upper body with a spear, then take a short sword out with other hand and cut them/stab them. Like, pin them to the ground with the first attack then go in for the fatal blow.

DF Gameplay Questions / What's most important in a shield?
« on: December 01, 2011, 04:22:58 pm »
I'd heard it's quality of material, but I'd also heard it was based on the weight of the shield. I checked the wiki and it doesn't really provide any information on that matter. Can anyone help me out?

Yeah, same shit just happened to me. I went into a night creatures cave to only fall 20 or so zlevels to land in an underground river. Guess what, i lost all my stuff, Weapon, armor, and shield, to get out of the river and have to fight a fucking titan. >:( I of course lost, after fighting for a good 5 minutes. No mods on my game at all, Just plain old vanilla.

That's actually badass as fuck

"Lesno Scorchedcopper the Pure Spear". Coolest title for a companion ever.

Edit:

Apparently it wasn't all fluff, Zotho is actually the last hero of a dying world. I haven't seen any inhabited forts, the only other fighting men & women aside from my group are bandits, and I've come across at least two empty cities. One of them was one of those big market cities, as well.

Edit: The Pure Spear is now dead.

In a land where Humans rule half the world, Elves hide away in the north-eastern corners of the planet, and Dwarves only exist in legends, a hero will rise. A man to bring back the fantasy of the ages gone by. His name is Zotho Ashcirbod Onodkalsiotircishrat Othag (translation: Power Halestrong the Awe-inspiring Mighty Punch-Killer of Anger). Remember this obscenely long and silly name, for it will be engraved in the stars in the months to come.

I give him three days :P Unless he is a demigod.
Three ingame days or three real life days? It's been more than three ingame days. Also, how could he not be a demigod with a name like that?

My last adventurer, Galir Obinuce, the legendary swordsman of the southern kingdoms, who near-singlehandedly emptied the lands of all megabeasts and titans, including a quadraped composed of flames, and a spider with green, scraggy scales... disappeared into the unexplored wastes of the north. He had kept company with one of the most legendary creatures in existence. A demon by the name of Riqui. This demon was a humanoid, noseless camel with fluffy, lavender hair. His blood melted those who shed it, yet it hadn't been seen for centuries. This demon dodged every attack that came his way. This legendary creature once decapitated a Roc with a knife in one swipe. Sadly, though, these adventures would come to an end. Someone had told Galir of the wastes of the north, which were as of yet unexplored, as they were inhabited by goblins and the once thought extinct kobolds. Sadly, Galir took this as a challenge, and with Riqui and an ex-bandit (Recruited from bugged and non-hostile bandit camp) following him, he ventured northwards. The monsters of the north thought it would be a rather hilarious death if he were to die before he even got anywhere near there, but Galir proved too strong. He cut down all the forces set against him, with the demon and the ex-bandit fighting alongside him. Sadly, the lands had another plan. An enemy would arise from the last place he would have expected... his companions. Forces unknown (a bug) caused his teammates to turn against him on the shores of his final rest. He awoke to his ex-bandit companion advancing towards him with an evil glint in his eye, and they clashed. Of course, Galir being the mega-hero he is, he slew the man near immediately. Sadly, this gave Riqui time to get near him, and began cutting at him. He dodged the first few, and parried some of the next, but eventually began defending himself and fighting back. The fight went on for ages with no one taking any hits, but demons do not tire, and humans do. Finally, Galir cut Riqui's leg, and severed a couple nerves. Riqui fell, but stabbed Galir in the lower body, tearing his stomach. Galir was pushed back by the force of the blow, falling over as well. They just kept fighting, except Riqui eventually bled out. Galir couldn't rest due to bleeding, so he just laid there, near Riqui's corpse as waves came in from the ocean and the sun set. He eventually bled out as well. It was seriously the best thing I have ever experienced in this game, and I doubt anything will ever come close to it again.

Your kobold is doomed, I've seen this before. The walls will eventually grow closer and closer until they crush you. It's a really awesome bug, imo.

Cut off both upper arms, charge kick to chest. Is always great fun.

Were-pond grabber.

My favorite adventurer so far, Galir Obinuce went to one of the abandoned forts where there are animals everywhere. There were tons of lions and rhinos. Almost all of my companions died, but I managed to save one just before he died. I went near to the door of the castle, and unfortunately there were like eight rhinos and five lions hidden right near there. I went near it, and got my ass kicked quite badly. I managed to crawl away, and the rhinos and lions stayed there, oddly. While crawling away, I gave into pain. A sole lion walked up and began pounding on me. I almost died... but then the guy I saved crawled over. He attacked the lion, and severely wounded it, but it killed him anyhow. Almost as soon as he died, I woke up, and then the lion ran away because it was in a worse state than I was. I crawled to the door, but, funnily enough, there were two rhinos on the little entrance hall area. I got a couple rocks and threw them at them, until both fell unconscious. I came in and killed them, then went to the currently uninhabited lord's hall. Inside, I rested until dawn (or at least was going to). Lions and a rhino woke me up. I was mostly healed anyway, so I attacked the lions and killed them. The rhino was up against the door, so I threw some of those rocks I had left over. It was knocked unconscious, and I killed it. Then, I left for the town nearest. I recruited some people, and eventually became a legendary swordsman. This character is still adventuring to this day, and kicking ass as well, if I do say so myself.
