Other Games / Re: Rogue survivor: Roguelike Sandbox Zombie Game!

Well looks like we're getting sewers next. Should be interesting to explore.

Since roguedjack seems to read this thread I'd like to leave a few questions and suggestions here:

As for the sewers, are you planning on adding any kind of maintenance or water treatment rooms or is it going to be mostly sewer tunnels down there? I'm assuming you might also find an occassional zombie that has stumbled in, and not simply undead rodents. In any case the sewers should provide an interesting retreat or way to travel between districts when things get too hot above ground.

Since you're adding sewers, I would like to suggest subway tunnels as well, to provide a less sludgy alternative for sewer transportation. They would be similarly dark, and there would be perhaps about one terminal entrance for each district or two. Since electricity is off, you could just walk along the tracks and hope not to run into a group of zombies blocking the tunnel. There might also be things worth scavenging in the terminals.

Anyway I'm enjoying the game tremendously so far, and I'll be sure to keep up with the updates.

I never really got into the Gothic series but this is one of the better RPGs I've played in a while.

Crap reviews. Positive surprise. Excellent game.

Just popping in to say that I didn't expect to start following this LP when curiousity first made me click the thread, but it's a really enjoyable read with a cup of coffee. My own attempts at Daggerfall haven't been quite as succesful and I don't think I'd have the patience to play it again either, mostly due to its cursed ability to easily break.

Thanks.

Out of curiosity, has anyone ever tried to kill a shopkeeper with the ghost? It sounds more trouble than its worth but who knows...

Failed to get Crassius Curio, although he supposedly is there. Didn't even get him on the suggestion list though.

Failed to get Stephen O'Malley, though I'm positively surprised he actually was on the suggestion list.

Failed to get Garrett, though I think it's partially my fault with questions like "Does he fight against monsters?" and "Does he always dress in black?", which can more or less be answered either way without being too far off. Regardless he was third on the suggestion list so I'm satisfied with that.

A very draining round. And completely nuts.

Well, works for me.

It's up again, the round continues and most people are dead, I think. At least I am.

My wizard got incredibly lucky and found this a couple of days back. Apparently it's a neweish fixed artifact that's only included in the few latest versions. I have no idea what the last property does, though, this is the first time I've seen an item that "Catches signals from God".

Ummm, DO NOT EVER SPEAK OOC in Escape from the Udnerdark, even if there is a very good reason (there isnt). IF you wan tto speak freely OOC only do it in tells or on the DM channel, or just go top their IRC chatroom for all the OOC you want.

Being in EfU is like being in a violent play or novel. It would suck if a character in a movie you were watching turned to the camera and started talking to you. dont do it.

Yeah, sorry, should've been more elaborate. I was refering to tells obviously.

Though I'm still pretty sure no one would gut the new guy for making that mistake for the first time.

Well, if you want more to read I'd personally recommend this guide. It's a little old, and mostly focused on timed games rather than persistant worlds, but it's for the most part accurate and very well written.

Beside that, you can also mention people that you're new to the game Out of Character. They'll be more than glad to help you get started.

Yeah, the server seems to have the most players online from evening to late night GMT (usually around 15-30 people), which is a bit difficult for someone living in GMT+2. Oh well, there's still the weekends.

Interesting coincidence. I just mentioned EfU:A on another forum yesterday.

But yeah, I tried to get into the old EfU a couple of times, but the sheer scale of it all always drove me away after a week of playing or so. There simply were so many deep plots running in the module at any given moment that it could be really time draining and confusing to even get a grasp of the basics of what was going on.

That aside, after finding out about the new module setting a few weeks ago I decided to give it another shot, and while I miss the old Underdark environment greatly, the Archipelago setting offers much more variety to everything. (Yes, I'm currently playing it, though I'd rather keep my anonymity ingame)

As someone who has been spending time on various NWN servers online more or less dedicatedly for almost four years, I have noticed that the sort of roleplay the game offers is not for everyone. However, very similarly to Dwarf Fortress, it can be an extremely rewarding experience if you have the patience and willingness to learn the ropes.

Lastly, while I have projects of my own, I agree that Escaped from the Underdark: Archipelago is one of the most professional servers out there, and would work as an excellent introduction to the multiplayer NWN for those interested.

So perhaps I'll recognize a couple of you folks logging in during the next few days.
