Bay 12 Games Forum

So I just had my first fort crumble..... because I didn't take into account that we could not use the rivers during winter since they would freeze over. All 22 of my dwarves died one by one of thirst. Then as my last four clanged to life, I remembered that  I had been harvesting plump helmets for months, so I could make some drinks...... I was too late.

As in does the world, after the initial generation of it at teh start of a game, actually go on while Im twiddling away at my fort? Are there still historical figures dying, and are there people fighting and dying? Stuff like that.

Looks good but hopefully if you do discontinue this game, you will inform us.

Twilight isn't that 'loved', but rather those who enjoy it are more vocal about it, making numbers appear over inflated and hyped, then people buy the book because you must read anything over hyped just so you can either see what the fuss was about, or be justifyed in not liking it.

Edward Cullen is some what of a firefly, and that what makes the fan girls love him so. People will write poems and songs about how wonderful fireflys are, and how they glow in the moon light, yet have you seen a firefly in real life? They are, to many, ugly little insects with a faint glow. Our freind Edward is the same, glorified in art, but in real life a guy like that would be shunned for being creepy, and that is why he is so desirable to manny, the perfect guy they will never find in real life, because they never look twice when they walk past the emo kid. He has been calling himself 'a monster' long before Cullen, yet when he does it, it isn't because he is 'deep and troubled', it is because he is an annoying emo kid. Sad truth is sad.

From what I heard Twilight is a pretty bland book but if even one person enjoys it then the author has did their job.

I think some people to a slightly unreasonable degree. Ripping books in half is never productive, no matter how obscure the book.

I agree. One person may hate it while the rest of the world loves it. Just look at Twilight.

Well, I havn't exactly read your works, so I would feel bad about voting for a book I have never read. Also, I know age should never be an issue, but at the age of 17 I'm left to wonder how would you write a 'Book following a schizophrenic during World War I', taking into account the fact that you almost certainly lack the historical or medical accuracy. On the other hand, your book may be very well researched and well written! For all I know it is the best book about the WWI era ever! I do not know, and this is a problem.

In other news, 6 posts? I can't help but feel you are sort of trying to take advantage of the bay12 forums by looking for people who arn't internet douch bags and begging for support.

Just because I don't post a lot doesn't mean I am mooching off the bay12 forums. If I get into that category, there will be an excerpt of some of the manuscript for people to read. Most of the "voting" is done by people at Amazon and the judges anyway. I have done my research when it comes to World War I and I guess people get misconceptions about a person based on their age. Not that I need support anyway; just posting to let people know like that guy posting about the "beganningmyth" or whatever the hell he called it.

This again? Let's address the key point's fast.
1) Although heavly inspired by DF in it's initial stages, MC is not DF.
2) You are allowed to compair two things of differing propertys. It's how you form opinions.
3) You are allowed to have an opinion, for example 'I think Dwarf fortress is better then Minecraft'
4) Notch changed he's artistic veiws, he is allowed.
5) Toady has kept the same artistic veiws, he is allowed.
6) Notch charges for he's game. He works hard on it, and is allowed.
7) Toady gives out he's game for free, even though he also works hard on it, he is allowed.

Anything I missed?

Way to talk about something that never was mentioned in this thread. When I say next installment, I mean the next game Dwarf Fortress game which should be the third in the series.

I meant in Adventurer Mode. Is there suppose to be one for Adventurer Mode and if not, is there a tutorial for the Mode as a whole
