I MADE IT WORK!

It turns out that the reverse of what everyone was saying was the fix. My text size was too small (I have it set to 100%). All I had to do was set it to 125% and everything was fine. I don't like how huge my icons are now, but I am sure my eyes will adjust.

EDIT: I have concluded the issue was that the text was simply too small for the window, and increasing the size of the window through windows was the solution. I do quite dislike this 125% size though, is there anyway I can set a specific program (Aurora) to it but leave out the rest of my desktop?

Double EDIT: And the increased window size means the windows don't fit on my screen without reduced height windows on. So the solution to this issue is to either make the text smaller or your windows larger.

This must be what masochism feels like.

Yes, I do have windows 7, but I am sure there has to be a fix that doesn't involve me hacking my registry. Ehh, I'm sure I will find a fix somewhere. Until then, I will keep sacrificing virgins to lambs, or is it the other way around?

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Ok, that made me laff.

Well I have had reduced height windows on the entire time, and tried all of the different text sizes. I'll see anything else I can do before just simply crying.

EDIT: Well, my grammar can use some work...

The rate at which people reply on those forums is, slow, at best. I want to try every last thing before having to create an account on those forums and waiting it out, really.

I checked and my text was already set to 100%...

And if anyone can send me a link to a fix I will sacrifice a virgin in your name.

Has the game become any more beginner friendly yet?

Well, there is a very good tutorial on the aurora forums which I shall link. It covers almost everything in the beginning of 6.21, but I myself haven't actually used it because of my text squash. But as far as I know it is still very spreadsheet-y.

Hey, I am super, super desperate to get into this game, but I have one really bad issue that makes it impossible to even get past the system screen.
I have a large enough monitor (1920x1080) but the text is unreadable due to it being "squashed" into other text. I have searched for a couple hours for a fix but the only things I can find are fixes for smalls screens, not large screens with squashed text.

Will provide a picture if asked.

We have extremely grave news. While on a killing spree, Zephyr got his skull smashed in by a Yeti. He is not dead, but in extreme pain. We have no materials to heal him, so all the other dwarves can just hope he pulls through this.

Good news however, MIGRANTS! Bringing our population from 7 to 15! Back to bad news, STILL NO BLOODY CAVERNS! Back to Good news, YETI MEAT IS YUM YUM IN MY TUM TUM!

14
Now becoming rather scared about the meat stocks, the crew of The Oily Fields decide to go and slaughter the Blizzard man outside!
CHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGE!

Zephyr goes to the front of the squad, and starts swinging his axe around! He chops of the blizzard mans finger!
The blizzard man runs away, but the squad chase after him and...

Zephyr defeats this beast with a single swing!
It seems that demetra doesnt want to butcher the beast though...

Edit: After this, the squad killed 2 Blizzard men, 2 Yeti, and 9 Ice wolves. Demetra not butchering anything though...Oh, and Z - level -60 and still no cavern. The map ends at -108

Meat was running rather low. And since butchering the Llama that came with them was not a good idea, Tomease came up with the idea of slaughtering and eating those ice wolves by the front wall.

Demetra was given the wonderful job of slaughtering and tanning the corpses. So, brave warriors of FierceCrystal, Break down those walls and ATTAAAAAAAAAACK!

Zephyr, Lucey and Teddles gave themselves the name of, The oily fields. Sounds pretty badarse to them.

Well thats a real shame, the wolves are caught in the Glacier.

Zephyr was really mad at this, bit he just grumbled it away and went back into the dorms
