Hit tab to switch the view to individual items first.

The options under refuse orders toggle between "save" and "chasm," and when you get a bookkeeper you can designate specific items to be chasmed on the stocks screen.

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Stacking items? (1 iron bolt * 10)

No, not yet.

For metal bolts, you can melt them by marking them on the stocks screen and setting a smelter to repeat melt metal object. It keeps track of how much you've melted, so you will eventually get a bar back, but it takes forever.

You could also just chasm them.

DF Bug Reports / Metal Bridges

It takes four steel bars to be able to place a 1x7 bridge, but only two are actually used.

DF Bug Reports / Rescued/imprisoned loop
« on: August 24, 2006, 04:27:00 am »
One of my farmers threw a tantrum and punched a few cows, and was sentenced to a beating and 35 days imprisonment. Later I saw him being taken to a bed, ecstatic about being released and rescued, with two broken arms and a mangled lower body. I gave him a nice room to recover in, but a guard came and dragged him out of bed. Turns out he still he 33 days to serve. Halfway to the chains, an agile metalsmith comes flying by, snatches him, and puts him back in bed. This went on for a while until I finally put a statue and a bed next to the chain he was assigned to.

DF Bug Reports / Re: Mechanics never finish linking levers
« on: August 22, 2006, 12:28:00 pm »
The mason is Very Strong, and just recently became Agile, but he finished the two levers I mentioned before he became Agile. One of my mechanics is Very Tough, but none of them are anything else. I have a backup of an earlier save where they're still fiddling with the two levers if you want it.

It doesn't show a duration anywhere that I can see.

DF Bug Reports / Mechanics never finish linking levers
« on: August 22, 2006, 09:32:00 am »
I've been linking up a bunch of levers, and I have three mechanics devoted to it. Two are novice, one is skilled, but none of them ever finish. They have been linking up the same two levers for a year now. They have no other jobs and I always see them in there working on them. They don't seem to have any trouble building mechanisms or setting up traps, just linking levers.

I just watched my mason who part-times as a mechanic (novice) go in there and finish one first try. I started linking about 6 levers at the same time, and all of the others have been done for quite a while. I am guessing my mason finished the other ones and just hadn't had a chance to take a shot at these two with three "real" mechanics full-timing them.

edit: Dunno if it's relevant, but my error log is 86 lines of "BUILDPATH SAME SQUARE VIOLATION".

DF Bug Reports / Re: Save, load, build channel, crash

Got it: build a bridge, save, load, build a channel. Doesn't seem to matter where you put the bridge, but I just noticed you can build them through fortifications(?). It doesn't have to actually get built, you just have to place it. If you can't get it to happen, I'll email you my save.

I've made a point of trying it every time I save and crashed every time, but just loading/saving/loading doesn't seem to make it happen. I guess you have to play for a while. I'll see if I can come up with a more specific way to reproduce it.

DF Bug Reports / Save, load, build channel, crash
« on: August 21, 2006, 08:47:00 pm »
After saving and then loading my game again without exiting, I crash as soon as I hit u on the build screen. If I exit before loading or just load again after crashing, it works fine. It also wouldn't let me make a farm plot bigger than 1x3, but that worked fine after cancelling and trying again.

He doesn't seem to notice any workshops that weren't there when you loaded the game.

DF General Discussion / Re: Code tags
« on: August 16, 2006, 11:15:00 pm »
I saved this page and messed with the html. Adding a before the

from the code tag makes the code section come up in a fixed width for me in Firefox. The line I posted just adds a before the code block and re-opens the main post font tag after it.

The $2 comes directly from the source string - it is whatever is between the code tags. I don't see any extra tags inside or around the

 in the html.

I think the problem is actually the font tag surrounding the whole post. You might be able to fix it by changing the first line to this:
code:

$_[0] =~ s,(\[code\])(.+?)(\[/code\]),
code:
$2

,isg;

In perl, whatever you put after the s becomes the delimiter for the whole thing, so you can do s/a/b/c or s,a,b,c. Since they used the comma on that one you don't need to escape the slashes.
