DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Doubts about 44.10
« on: June 13, 2018, 02:23:08 am »
Having your military clean up a pack of crundles near your fort entrance is a terrible idea and will rapidly lead to oblivious stumbling and madness all throughout the fortress, even if the bodies are quickly moved out of the way. 44.10 is slightly broken. It's better than completely immune dwarves, but now it's too much the other direction.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: "Reliving" traumatic events

I would love if my entire fort didn't keel over and slip into depression and stumble around obliviously just because my military decided to clean up 5-6 crundles that kept breaching the cavern entrance...

well, it got lots of job cancelations and fighting sounds.
disabling the cancelation sounds did not disable them...

You can reduce the Play level from 4 to 3. That'll disable cancellations and sparring sounds. You can do this without editing any config files. Just do it in the main window.

I have a working 44.03 version, which I'll upload now. Just wait a bit. ^^
Ah. So it was the "calm the hell down" thing. ^^ Thanks Meph!

It looks like your link is broken.
It actually deleted itself for some reason. Fixed now though.

I'm going to chalk this up to "you're running alpha content, you dunce" but I just installed Meph in df 44.03 with the DFhack alpha 1 and TWBT 6.27 and it looks like this. I'm just going to assume that something is fishy with the overrides atm?

What is the best method for someone who is not a developer (my coding abilities extend to semi-complex python scripting and some basic Java coding) to find out the progress towards having DFHack up to date with DF? I don't want to bother the devs or spam threads every time there's a new DF version. Instead, is there a way for me to find this out directly, on my own? If so, could some kind soul point me in that direction?
In the past, we have pointed people to "v0.xx.yy.lst" in https://github.com/dfhack/df-structures. There isn't one yet for 0.44.x, though, because the Linux build was only just released. Here is 0.43.05's; "UNCHECKED" is (potentially) bad, "ALIGNED" is good, "VERIFIED" is human-checked, so hopefully entirely right.

There are usually other things to be done too. You can look for the "r1" milestone under https://github.com/dfhack/dfhack/issues, although it doesn't currently have anything assigned.

Thanks! That's exactly what I was looking for.

Hmm, problem still persists even though I've removed the Weapon Traps. Mind you, the traps were not completed, they were only planned, so no one could've stepped in them.

Try TWBT 5.xx (not Next). There's a bug in Next that may cause crashes.
After about half an hour of testing, this seems to have done the trick.

Specifically, it's http://www.bay12games.com/dwarves/mantisbt/view.php?id=9888, which is fixed in the next version.

Thank you! I for some reason didn't expect something that has been working fine for years to suddenly break. But I see a new wear code was put in, so welp. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

Do you have any weapon traps?

Yes, I do. I just recently set a couple up outside my fort. Is this problem connected to Weapon Traps somehow?

Apparently I'm missing NLog and Newtonsoft-Json, that's why it's failing. Not sure where I can find those dependencies for Arch, but I'll have a look.

I can't seem to figure this out. I keep getting segfaults literally all the time on my save in Linux now, and I've had it happen on earlier saves as well.

Code: [Select]
[DFHack]# .dwarffortress/dfhack: line 66: 22352 Segmentation fault      (core dumped) setarch i386 -R env LD_PRELOAD="$PRELOAD_LIB" ./libs/Dwarf_Fortress "$@"
Is what it most often ends with.

I'm using r1 DFHack and TWBT Next 6.18. Any ideas? It seems completely random as to when it happens, but usually within minutes of loading the save.

Anyone have any idea as to why this keeps happening?
