I tried doing this but cant get it to work. I uploaded my save here. My archery squad is called the Crystals of Pattrnng. On the equipment screen all their positions uniforms have a green checkmark next to it, so I presume there are no equipment issues. I also checked and they all have bolts in their quivers. I set my training orders to train 1 minimum for every month. I made 1 archery target for each squad member with ZTIQ enabled on each, with the direction being from top to bottom (which is correct in this case).

What am I missing?

DF General Discussion / DFFD down?
« on: March 28, 2015, 02:36:40 pm »
I went to go download the newest LNP but the links to DFFD don't seem to be working. The direct link also doesn't work.  Is DFFD down for everyone?

Can confirm that rain unhappy thoughts are annoying...I'm doing an above-ground megaproject in a rainy forest (everybody lives in the mess hall above ground while the [massive] tower is being built.) I'm four or five years in, and everybody has something to say about the rain. Half the fort is stressed because of rain and a kobold or two.

I don't see the problem though?

Why should dwarves be happy after being out in the rain for five years?

My dwarfs (and I believe his too) are outside, but almost always under a roof. I think there is clearly a glitch or imbalance in the system.

Well in that case rain is the only unhappy thought, and there are several happy thouhgts.... and there is 50k stress value

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Rain based unhappy thoughts should be nerfed.

When my dwarfs have tons of happy thoughts -

Their stress level shouldnt be this massive

All because of one unhappy rain thought.

From the wiki article, cave adaptation is suppose to take a long time, up to two years. However, my 3 month old dwarf baby is already severely cave adapted and vomiting a ton. I also have an outdoor meeting area which I'm fairly sure he and his mother spend a lot of time in.

How is it possible that the baby (but not his mother) is severely cave adapted, despite spending lots of time outdoors?

The mantis bugtracker is where the bug report stuff is consolidated: http://www.bay12games.com/dwarves/mantisbt/view_all_bug_page.php

Version 40.15 is a bit old though as we're now on 40.19

Its not even a month old... Either way, I reported the bug.

DF crashed while a game was being saved. Now when I try to load that game, DF crashes. Is there any way I can recover the save?

Herpaderp, thankyou. I was just clicking on it with my mouse. It works for beds to bedrooms, so I assumed it would work for this.

According to this wiki, armor and weapon racks can be used to make a barracks. I have built an armor and weapon rack in a room, but it is not giving me the r button option to make a barracks. What am I missing?

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Why isnt my mason building a staircase?
« on: November 15, 2014, 11:13:47 am »
So just looked at the save.

The construction is being built with material that is inaccessible. That is because the stone is on the floor below your up\down stairs and the stairs below it aren't pointed up. Unreachable.
So those up\down and down stairs can't connect at all. When you designated the construction, you made it choose the closest material, which would be the stone right beside it.
When you make up\down stairs they're useless alone. You either have to build Up stairs below it, or Down stairs above it to make it climbable. Or up\down in either direction.

If you designated that construction with the logs that were on the surface, your carpenter could build it. Or if you mine some stone on the level your dwarves can walk around on, then you can make those stairs and make sure you choose the material your dwarves can reach.

Stairs are confusing...

So the Dwarfs arent smart enough to choose different, accessable stone if the first strone they choose is not accessable?

Thanks by the way, this did work.

No, the mason can reach the stone and the stairs. Let me clarify the situation a bit -

Level 0: has stone and down stairs.
Level -1: has stone and up/down stairs. This level has the meeting area and the mason is generally here.
Level -2: has stone and down stairs. There is a construct up/down order placed here that is not being fuffiled.
