Designating with it set to anything other than "designate all" would make it only designate ores/gems(depending on the setting) and not care about normal rock. This is true for both Up [r]amp and [d]igging, since these dig the current level's tile and thus can see what that tile is.
C[h]annel doesn't have the option to only designate ore since it digs the tile below it, thus unable to know what it is.

In short: specific ore/gem designation is only available for [d] Mine, [r] Up Ramp, [j] Down Stair, [u] Up Stair, and [i] U/D Stair.
It is NOT available for [h] Channel so it does not affect it

Are there any plans on adding an option to rotate the column text(say by 45 degrees), to help people who suffer neck pain from trying to read text written sideways?

Wow... Does it have customizeable tilesets?(with a few built in including vanilla/square vanilla, and a bunch of others that people use, and perhaps a download option for more)

Also Android.

Using the latest build, Manipulator's keybindings are not shown properly, although they work as usual.
Instead of showing in the unit list "l - Manage labors" it shows "? - Manage labors" while [l] still works. It's the same for the manipulator screen's keys.

Is this a known bug or is it something that can be fixed without a new build?

I started a new game without raw editing, didn't change key bindings, I did disable mouse query since I don't use the mouse. Said region has raining goblin blood.

Most brutal thing I did in DF adventure mode?
Easy:
Went to a lair of some weak night creature, proceeded in killing every buzzard around it, bare handed.
I killed a few by biting their beaks off then hitting them with it. Or by smacking their stomaches on their heads. I was killed by a freezing ocean, with 200+ buzzard kills. I survived only on buzzard meat and buzzard blood. Did I mention I was naked as well?

You were pretty close, the last update was 17 months ago(June 2012), and on a Monday(June 4th).

The last few updates DotW(those apearing on the first page of dev log):
Monday, Monday, Thursday, Monday, Friday, Friday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Tuesday, Saturday, Tuesday.
So... seems like he doesn't like Sundays, other than that, seems pretty random to me.

I joined by the end of the first great hiatus iirc.
I joined the forums later on, on November 2010.

tbh, I joined because I read about this game in Notch's blog(The developer of Minecraft) and was wondering "what's that?"... was hooked ever since.
Interestingly enough, I lost interest in Minecraft while gained interest in DF and Toribash - I guess I like torturing myself with UI.

Increase exported wealth, Just sell useless crafts to caravans for soap or something.
That should attract more visitors.

My best guess ever was less than a meter off, since the game said my error was 0.000 km. My second best was 12 meters off.
Both guesses got me about the same amount of points. Once you get to the tens of meters, it's not worth pinpointing the location further(in terms of points, not self-satisfaction).

*That's about 145 Kph for most of the world outside the US
If you is using the values for research or something scientific in general, use Km/h, m/s. Kph don't mean anything.
Actually, the standard is to not capitalize the k, so it's km/h.

Question: What if you threw the dwarves and seeds at each other at the same time, would the dwarves be injured by the seeds? Will you be able to save the dwarves from terrible floor injuries with water? Would you gain anything from it besides the amusement? Needs ‼science‼, and we've got nice prisoner goblin-guinea-pigs. Too bad you can't build stuff in the arena.

Give that slade whip to your hammerer, those vampires wouldn't know what hit them.

On topic: Did you try aiming at fingers/toes? iirc they are the easiest to cut off, you might even get it to bleed to death. Also, I think someone said it before, get a bunch of rocks, stay in ambush, and throw to you're heart's content, extra points for throwing masterwork sharpened rocks.
