Syrio Forel just handed the Mountain's ass back to him with a wooden sword not unlike the one he used to train Arya with ;)

NOTE: After losing one hand*!

* In what was pretty much the only swing Gregor landed - I had to give Syrio Grand Master dodging :)

Don't forget Littlefinger and his legendary+5 Liar and Flatterer skills!

Heh. I'm only at half of the first book, and already I see your point :)

Someone made Winterfell.
That's awesome :)

Would be cool if we could use Winterfell as the venue for this event ^^

I can see it already: Bronn the legendary sword fighter and dodger, Robert the legendary Hammerman, Gregor Clegane with legendary strength and endurance :):):)

I'll certainly try doing this when I have the time.

I bet some people here know about this saga (almost positive that you'll like it if you like Dwarf Fortress, too).

If you've read the books, you probably have realized, as I just did - that the characters from the saga are SCREAMING to be made into DF characters and sent into the arena. I drew inspiration from http://www.towerofthehand.com/essays/mikelight77/dw/index.html - The Deadliest Warrior Tournament.

- Has anyone attempted to do this in DF?
- If you know the series, will you be willing to do it and post screens/logs? :D
- If you don't - I assure you'll like them :)

(HBO will premiere a series tightly based on the books, April 17th, btw)

I use the Phoebus tileset, and have never tried playing the game in ASCII. I've seen videos of it, though, and in my opinion the tilesets make the better look better.

Winter 263: Windslap's hospital got a functioning well. AT LAST.
It is a small revolution here.

Getting a working well was the first accomplishment I was proud of at DF. Congrats :)

A well will not stop water from overflowing and flooding your entire fortress, covering everything in mud.

I found out about this by flooding my hospital ;)

Unfortunately from what I found out Catgris was coaxed into embarking in a place with 2-3 layers of Aquifier ontop of eachother with only 0-3 layers of leeway

I just wanted him to try a terrifying embark  :-[

Ok so the Titan was an easy kill for my dorfs. It took a 23-page log, but in the end Ezum Tiristthestar (The Star, yes. And that's his dwarven-tong name! Translates to Rimcrimson) cut hit head off.

The titan didn't land a single hit on my guys, though :/ He only tried to land 3 I think :/:/ Weird.

For the first time, I think I actually have a decent military - 20 steel-clad dwarves, with several kills under their belts. I just fought off my first Goblin Siege.

About 12 crossbowgoblins, one of them riding a voracious cave crawler. The 4 goblins foolish enough to lead the assault of my gates fell victim to my cage traps (including the cave crawler - this kinda felt like cheating, and took away the opportunity for some FUN and an epic fight).

Now, the rest of the goblins RETREATED when their vanguard got stuck in the cages, and decided to wait about 20 tiles from my cave entrance.

This was actually pretty smart of them - they avoided more captures and forced me to send my dwarves into open terrain, giving the crossbowgoblins clear shots at my charging infantry.

Now, my steel hammers, axes, maces and spears killed half of them while the other half routed, but still - the retreat from the cages stroked me as a very wise decision by the AI.

Is this a sort of thing the AI does often?

Edit P.S.:

Also, I just got my first Titan!:

"A huge feathered gecko. It has wings and it has an austere look about it. Beware its fire!"

Seems like a mini-dragon, I fear for my dorfs.
