G: reload sprites & config from disk
F10: display available sprites
Numpad numbers: Move debug cursor (if available)
Ctrl+F: Toggle Cursor Follow Mode

-- Follow mode --
When you turn on follow mode, the screen will jump to the location of the DF window.
You can adjust the position of the follow mode relative to the DF window by
holding Ctrl while using the keyboard window movement keys.

When you turn on cursor follow mode, the debug cursor will follow the DF cursor when it exists.

-- Occlusion Culling --
There is an experimental feature that hides blocks that are not visible, for a speed increase.
This is a work in progress, and very buggy. It can be turned off with 'o', if something is missing.

DF Gameplay Questions / Stonesense controls?
« on: April 27, 2012, 12:25:08 pm »
I am using the Lazy Newb pack and loving it, but I can't seem to find any documentation on what options and controls exist for Stonesense. I can get it to run fine, but it just follows the DF camera and I know that I used to be able to zoom, pan around, and change which layers are displayed. Any help would be appreciated  :)

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Post your: Mega-structures!
« on: November 09, 2009, 03:05:29 am »
This is Pickwonder.

The surface structure is a basalt and alunite pyramid, with a green glass dome. The walls of the pyramid contain all of the housing, with the military in the base. The pyramid is hollow, with the Trade Depot in the center surrounded by Gold and Silver bridges.

Underneath the citadel is another pyramid, this one carved out of the earth with the surrounding ground hollowed out. This is where the work occurs.

There is a large hole in the ground, at the moment, waiting for the construction of a giant iron tower, built from the melted armour and weapons of invaders. I currently have about half of the map excavated.

That's how Arnold does it - all that governing only makes him stronger.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Goblins invaded...and just sit there.
« on: November 03, 2007, 09:30:00 pm »
Oh no! Goblins!

I am sitting here waiting for the goblins to walk into my wide-open fortress....but they just sit there at the edge of the map milling about where they showed up. I've released my dwarves to go do outside tasks, even lumberjacking and fishing. What the heck?

My first one was awesome. It doubled the wealth of my fortress

The Just Confederacy of Enchanters, a Native Platinume idol. Value=150,000$ It is encrusted with Native platinum and circled with bands of obsidian. This object menaces with spikes of Native platinum. On the item is an image of dwarves in giant cave spider silk. The dwarves are speaking with the dwarves.

The goblins are sieging, and I'm sitting safely behind my walls drinking tea. My legendary miner's child gets hit with an arrow in the guts and dies, sending him into a rage. He breaks down the locked door (one of many, luckily) that is keeping the goblins from the fortress and they flood in and kill him.

Eventually they started bringing about 75 goblins to each siege. I built a bunch of catapults in off years and placed them in towers surrounded by moats near the edges of the map and let them practice. That's how I got a bunch of steel - melting stuff I got from the splattered goblins.

I had a windmill that showed powered, and I put an axle directly south of it. It didn't power up.

I had a watermill in a brook, entirely inside the brook. It didn't power.

I'm also curious how to get a pump to work...and can you build pipes?

There are flies and birds high in the air, flying around.

I think it'd be fun to make a game in which certain kinds of rock were edible to dwarves. I'd like to make certain stones millable and then the milled stone 'flour' cookable. Any suggestions?

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Magma forge & smelter
« on: November 09, 2007, 12:18:00 pm »
Lava won't flow "up" so I recommend building your magma channel on the lowest Z-Level. Build a long 2-wide tunnnel (not channel...build it as a tunnel) and wait until it is mined out completely before digging the last piece of it. Then, dig the last piece of it, and as soon as the dwarf is done chipping it away, build 2 rewall sections near the stairs-end of the tunnel to block it off completely. Then, on the Z-Level above your magma-filled tunnel, dig the chamber you want to use for magma smelting and forging, digging single channel spaces into the floor where you want to have your forge and smelter. The bottom magma-tunnel will be full of magma, but unpassable by magma creatures, and your smelter is safely one level above it.
