Basically something just like the overland city quest zoom thing but for cities. I ask for this cuz I spent the last 20mins looking for an entrances to dungeons / catacombs / sewers for quests I had with no success. On the upside I got to explore one of the gigantic new cities and it was sweet.

Yes I did using ctrl+alt+del, that explains why my adamantine shield turned into a steel shield. I shouldn't be surprised by this kinda stuff anymore, but had thought the ctrl+alt+del ing out of the program issues had been fixed, shows how much I know.

Did you alter the raws?

Nope.

Sounds rather like this one:

# 001031 □ [adventure mode][inventory]   (Report) a merchant pack animal caught at an old dwarf site during adv mode was wearing a full set of clothes

I wouldn't be surprised if they're at least related bugs.

DF Bug Reports / camels in human sites wear clothing

This is exactly want it sounds like (I haven't seen it happened in nonhuman sites, yet), and I mean completely dressed. Just for the record: I did do a search for this and didn't find anything.

When I first downloaded the game, I found playing impossible.
My first 5 or so forts died of complete inability to follow how the game plays.

This game was so hard to play, I had to stop playing, remember I liked the idea, and return several month later.

edit: most of my friends would find this unacceptable from a videogame.

I totally agree with this and this as well:

Personally, my biggest issue with getting started was how dense the UI is.  More specifically, things like...  "Why can't + and - work on all screens?  or PgUp and PgDwn, or Spacebar/F9."

Thirdly, for me, is the lack of any real...  characteristics to the dwarfs.  I know they all have personality screens, and you can listen to their thoughts.  But with 100, or even 20 or so, that gets unwieldy.  I tend to play the game much more like an RTS than a lot of people seem to, simply because I just started to view it as "4 miners, 2 stonecutters, a glassblower and 7 hammerers.  Send hammerers to attack, retreat my cutters, send miners to build X, Require more Vespene Gas".
*Having some in game representation of various things about dwarves, even just one sentence when you page over them "Aleph Mineypants, likes fish."  Then next time it'll pull something else from their bio, so "Aleph Mineypants, worships Armok", etc.*  (This would be BIG, at least for me.)

And most of all...  90% of the cool stuff you hear about is really rare and/or really hard.  I rarely get to do any megaprojects.  I've never seen nor heard about a mega-beast.  And so forth.  In my mind, that was the biggest turn-off at the beginning.  I was hearing stories about carp attacks, and huge goblin sieges, and building giant glass pyramids.   Meanwhile, I'm trying to figure out how to build a well, spending 2 hours of reading to figure out how to grow more plump helmets, and getting killed by a single raid of three kobolds.

The fort is slipping into a tantrum spiral after another goblin invasion, but that doesn't matter sense I'm well on my way to having the items I want. Is there a lever to pull to seal the fort off? Nice fort by the way.

7
The fort you sent is probably is very close to what I was looking for and it has a decent fps, thanks!

edit: And just now before I could complete a single adamantine item a great horde of goblins attacked... I think the universe hates me.

edit2: The fort is now undergoing 'ethinic cleansing' by the goblins... And my armorer has gone insane. Damn sieges.

edit3: Oh well the fort is probably lost now, but I can just reclaim it.

edit4: Well I thought I might make it for a few mins there, but then another siege happened, I think it's reclaim time.

edit5: I just remembered how to scum, all my problems are solved now.

8
That sounds good to me, thanks!

Kinda thw whole point of df is to do things yourself, not get some one else do it for you.

I've been trying to complete this goal for about 3 years, and never succeeded (cuz I suck at df). I've just gotten fed up with it.

you should simply mod the game to make adamantine easily and then just make some adam, its easy actually...

I guess I'll just try that, just have to figure out how to mod minerals now... But I doubt I could be harder than trying to get this done without modding.

DF General Discussion / does anyone have a save with this stuff:

mastercrafted adamantine plate armor, leggings, battle axes, etc. all conveniently in some kind of a container near the entrance to the fort. I've having trouble finding a fort where I could get this to happen so I was wondering if anyone else knows of a save with this stuff.

I think df needs tutorials most of all. I mean shit, I've been playing for years and I still can't figure out how to train xbow dwarves or how to setup a wind powered water pump.

Weird I got sick too a few days after the meet up, but only for 3 days.

The continuing effort to grow a proper DF beard for the DF meetup is ongoing, but stymied by genetics.

I like the kitten. But I'm worried that if you replaced that guitar with a banjo you will have mistakenly completed your transformation into a hillbilly.

edit: sorry for posting this I just couldn't resist.

I'm in.

Maybe I should rephrase my question:  Is anybody _against_ meeting at the Pike Place Brewery?

Aren't there people coming who are under 21?
