DF Gameplay Questions / weapons storage
« on: August 24, 2006, 10:46:00 am »
Ok I have the ability for forge bronze weaponry and was considering to organize a small military and so forth.

The problem is that I cannot seem to be able to storage my weapons where they need to be. The ammo for crossbows goes on the proper storage pile,
but finished weapons just keep lying in the metalsmith's shop.

I created a weapon's rack and allowed all forms of weaponry, but nothing happens.

Since I want to have two squads alternating to be on duty to prevent them from getting annoyed, and that I do not want to tax my labour force too heavily  I would say that it is rather imperative that I have some comprehensive weapons/pick storage so that I can annul a squad to go digging or something should the need arise for more miners instead of soldiers.

I can confirm that I tried to make a bridge that spanned an extra square on each side of the channel; the adjacent 'extra' squares come up green; but the area of the channel itself stays red.

DF Gameplay Questions / Bridge over channels ?
« on: August 08, 2007, 03:48:00 pm »
So I finally dug out a magma moat near the fortress entrance; and I wanted to place a retractable bridge accross it.

I read in the wiki that for channels filled with magma you can use rock; iron; or steel.
I tried all combinations of materials but I can't build the bridge over the channel; all the quares show up red !

I tried emptying the moat; filling it; I checked the wiki and it said something about muddied tiles preventing a channel from being bridged; but I tried placing a test channel someplace accross the chasm and I couldnt bridge that either...

What am I doing wrong ?

see thats the thing; when i create a food stockpile the 'prepared food' toggle is already bold. using u to put it on or off didn't get any results...
the stockpiles remain empty. I've got 40 ish dwarves and 6 full time haulers.

I can't figure this one out :

Where do I go to designate a stockpile to only accept prepared food; say biscuits or roasts and nothing else ?

I see a 'prepared food' toggle in the stockpile menu but I can't seem to get it to work.

Please help; my cook is angry with me for letting his masterpieces go to rot; and the dwarves are getting very drunk because of lack of sustenance and too much ale !

DF Bug Reports / Re: Berserk dwarves not perceived as a threat?

I've got this exact same situation coming up soon, I will test out if I can duplicate what happened.

Got a craftsmansdwarf starting to get impatient because I cannot provide him with a certain type of Ore, I will station two axesoldiers next to him  and see what happens.

later this evening I mean =p now back to work.

btw this game is coded by Satan, way too much fun.

I reloaded from a previous safe and it works fine now.

Maybe my dwarves were a bit underfed and didnt want to process stuff or something (shrugs)

DF General Discussion / What is the deal with the fisheries?

Winter arrived and I had received quite alot of immigrants, but since I had a decent farm going I decided not to drown them.

Halfway through winter I noticed my plump helmet supplies dwindling, so I checked in my food barrels for what else I found there.

it was STOCKED with all kinds of fish, salmon, turtles, plump spawn and whatnot.

So  I sito presto erected an extra kitchen (for a total of two) and  an extra fishery (also two) ,
put all fishery and farm dwarves of all jobs except for fish cleaning and coocking.

Now at least the farmers made some biscuits, but I hardly saw the entire raw fish stockpile being processed at all.

result was of course mass tantrums from underfed dwarves and I doubt that I will make it through the winter.

It is really pissing me off since my stockpiles are FULL of fish.

Nope every time caravans have been escorted out by my troops. so they always made it off the map.

I had some human delegates this year, but they didnt have much to sell but clothes, I think it is because my road wasn't entirel finished by that time.

So no, don't think it is a caravan issue.

I am nice and dug in at my third year, producing lots of bronze and crafts, and mainly surviving by farming

I have about 40 dwarves or so, have a very nicely finished dining room, and plenty of 3x3 and 4x4 suites with cabinets and coffers in them. My road outwards is almost complete so next year I hope to receive a larger human delegation.

But, I have NO nobles ! Not one.
from my reading
in the wiki I met the requirements for at least a couple, so I don't understand very well where I screwed up (am blessed ^^)
