Heh, Briggs Vanu just just won an alert by a large margin.

Everyone felt pretty good about themselves and the resulting afterparty was crazy.
After everyone had far too many concussion grenades (it was only very recently that the VS discovered their usefulness in combat, we just thought they were for raves), we decided to get a galaxy each and fly into the TR warpgate.
Amidst Ride of the Valkyries from at least four sources (and people yelling it through chat) and zealous /yells, a wave of Galaxies crashed into the TR warpgate.

There was like one TR there, he was all "Oh, hey guys"

I love this game :D

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: What's going on in your fort?
« on: January 01, 2013, 07:10:53 am »
Once again I overshot with my designs, building a grand fortress with porcelain paved streets and bridges over magnificent caverns without anything for the people themselves.

Mistem Morulust was the Hammerer of Geartrailed, he had immigrated with some skill with a hammer, little military experience and apparently no empathy whatsoever.

It started with a few tantrums, and it was fine until someone stomped a pet cat. I watched in awe as Mistem strode into the dining hall and crumpled the perpetrator. I don't quite understand the practicality of a hammerer; because that incident broke the people of Geartrailed. pretty soon the opulent halls were being littered with broken teeth, the military was chasing beserk dwarves and someone was making a chair out of their child.

Not Mistem though, he had a job to do, for months he was wading through chaos crossing names off his ever expanding list, even in later months when a pack of trolls had slipped into the fortress he would still find his marks before the trolls could. He gained the title "the Lightening of Eviscerating" after killing more than 30 of his kin. Oddly he was never unhappy.

I just abandoned that fort when Mistem was killed by a Troll, I realised that he was all I was there for.

you could get DFterm and connect to the game hosted on the same computer, I don't see the problem with this if DFterm can be read by your reader

and they'll even follow instructions some of the time.

Urist McDoc "now you keep that that bandage on"
Urist McArrowwound *promptly dumps bandage in room*

Sisters toast caught fire, she freaked out, but I was on break.

When it says "on the item is an image of", I tend to imagine it as "the item takes the form of" this totally works for the walrus, its protruding tusks serve as the pointy bit. However I can never explain how hanging rings of Llama wool can be the least bit awesome

A while ago my legendary mason was milling around my fort's entrance, when a skeletal panda charged up to him, ripped his right hand off, ripped his left hand off and promptly walked off leaving him spamming "Urist McNohands cancels store owned item: hands are in the moat" x50. Later he went berserk

Like the idea of civs learning/teaching/stealing basic techs in world gen, It would give some meaning to what parent civ you choose and when you stop world gen. but I feel that more mythic secrets like the ability to craft russian wargear should be limited to rare historical figures. I dont want Urist McNoviceCraftsdwarf to mood and make an artifact AK-47 thus allowing me to turn my fortress into a T-42 assembly line. Instead I want My king to arrive and turn out to be J Stalin, so I can preform these actions.
