It's obviously a 100% safe. Obviously. Mining just a little bit more couldn't hurt, right? Right?

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Microsoft Paint
« on: February 29, 2016, 02:44:11 pm »
I think using Excel, which comes naturally with a grid, is more handy than paint. The idea of DF is that everything is made of text characters, anyway. There's also an easy way to turn all of excel's cells into a square.

There is a method to cave in stuff on top of SMR so that you can slowly dig throug hit, but to do that for a 20 tile diameter tower would be night impossible I think.

Definitely following this though.

DF Suggestions / Re: hammocks
« on: February 27, 2016, 05:59:42 pm »
I have never seen a leather  hammock though (this in a country where it's very normal to sleep in hammocks. In fact I now prefer to sleep in my hammock over my bed, I sleep in it every night now). They should only be yarn, plant fiber and maybe silk (haven't seen a silk hammock either but that's mostly because silk is not native here).

Remember that many people sleep (partially) naked in a hammock so a leather one wouldn't be comfy.

Ohh it is because I am not quite sure how to explain it AND I am used to the taboo surrounding hypnosis or outright ignorant denial of it to kick in.

So people suddenly being genuinely interested and not immediately going "well it is all fake right?" is new to me.

Let me see. Skype indeed but any chat program works. It can be done through text or with voice.

wait what is this hypnotic session how does it work

Hypnosis is split up into four pieces
-Induction: You attempt to lull the person into a hypnotic trance through various methods.
-Deepener: You deeper the trance
-Suggestion: The actual suggestion phase
-Awakener: awaken from trance

Trance being a natural state the mind goes into. Everyone does usually at least twice a day, right as you wake up and right before you go to sleep, and is a rather personal and individual experience. Though often dramatized as a sort of zombie or sleep like state in television, it is closer to both letting go while at the same time concentrating intently on one task. "The Zone" is a perfectly good example of a trance as an everyday occurrence.

Suggestions are also wide and diverse. Depending on the level of suggestibility, that is the subjects ability to manifest suggestions, and my ability to expand it, what I can do with it a wide category. So if I was trying to do a relaxing session where my goal is to make the subject as relaxed as possible I might make them feel hands kneading across their back, the warmth of oil being spread into their skin, the feeling of weightlessness, their mind going blank (yes this is relaxing).
I could imagine this working through skype but really, through pure text?

Life Advice / Re: Alcoholism: Is This Actually True?

If it's really nothing more than 2 glasses a day, and you say it helps you block overstimulation more effectively than pharmacautically endorsed harddrugs, I'd say, don't worry too much about it. If it ever grows to more than 2 glasses a day though, you're threading on thin ice. Personally I'd recommend just 1 glass a day, preferably red wine instead of beer. Beer makes you fat and is bad for diabetes. Red wine has anti-oxidants, and other healthy stuff. Cancer and heart disease rates are relatively low in France (renowned for people drinking their daily glass of red wine).
Problem with red wine though is, that most cheapskate brands taste like horse piss. You really need to find a good tasting brand that doesn't leave your tongue tanned like leather.
I think the problem is that the op lives in Czech republic were Beer is waaaaaay more common than wine.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Dwarven Minecart Cavalry
« on: February 27, 2016, 02:49:13 pm »
My roundabout testing fort has a minecart loop set up (no working roundabouts yet, though).
It works, until too many dwarves enter the ride/disembark area, when they all collide at high velocity and die.
Maybe you should put up 'Yield' signs at the entrance of the roundabout :D

There's likely some range that's close enough to hit goblins at but far enough away to not flee their post in terror.

Yea, anywhere from 250 squares, to about 20, 30, iirc. Butvits so innacurate it still borders on useless.

So seige weapons are currently crap?

Yes. It requires very careful design to make them remotely useable. I.e. a long, straight, narrow pathway to your fortress. If a 100 gobs are funnling through a 2 tiles wide tunnel then yes the siege weapons will probably kill a couple in the seconds it takes them to walk from where they enter to within sight of your siege dorfs.

IMO siege operation should be a military action and not a civilian action.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Dwaven stupidity : The fall or the stairs?
« on: February 27, 2016, 02:31:54 pm »
short anwser: you cant

dwarves are stupid and will climb THROUGH the fortifications if they cant go above it to attack whatever is out there

for webbing beasts you should try giant serrated disk traps down a long hallway with an expendable dwarf noble at the end

ftfy

Also, is the ability to dodge through fortifications an intended feature (HOW IS THAT REALISTIC) or a bug?

Would using multiple layers of fortification help or cant the dorfs shoot through that.

Well I haven't got a steady stream yet (I am getting help setting up)

Basically it is 30 minutes to an hour per person once or twice a week.

Where I use hypnosis to help them relax, self-help, and for entertainment. All with cost of about 15 bucks a session + tips (which is on the low end), within the confines of the laws and regulations of my country and region.

I've been doing this for 10 years so I am good enough.
Wait you do this via skype or what?

Why are you assuming we all know exactly what you are talking about when we clearly don't?

A friend of mine does art requests (animu obvs.) and gets commissions for around 20$ apiece (it could be better if you can even draw backgrounds like a painter or something). If you're good with a (digital) pen and proportions, you can probably do just that, open up a bank/paypal account, start out on deviant art, read the popular trends (undertale is a pretty damned good fandom to start art requests, as well as kancolle), and start differentiating yourself from your competition. Then maybe after you gain some rep, you then go and open Patreon?

If you're willing to degrade your dignity you can opt to make whatever OCxOTP slashfic hentaoi pairing for even more moolah. Yes, there are markets for that.

Unfortunately the only thing I can do halfway decently is write... and even that is rather flawed... and writing is one of those "you HAVE to be good to get commissions" as opposed to being able to entice people with low prices like art can.

Also dang Turk is not an option. I am Canadian

---

I might have found a way to make money... I didn't know people offered money for it.

I am giving Hypnotic Sessions.

I honestly thought people only paid either certified professionals or "internet call girls" for it. Apparently there are quite a bit of people willing to pay.
Hypnotic sessions? Tell us more you've got me interested.

^Wow, that's bizarre and I have never seen that happen. Does it also happen when uploading torrents?
As for shipping SD cards here, I will need them within about a week and shipping to here takes at least a month, and there are odds that it gets stolen (yup, your mail can get stolen here or never ever arrive).

Someone here bought me an 8GB SD card, I will see if it works. The brand is 'Multilaser' a brand I have never heard of, and the price is approximately $5. We'll see.

I could write a very long answer to that, Harry Baldman, but I don't have the time at the moment, so I'll just quickly say that I have had diazepam on many occasions. I keep a supply of it for emergencies because it is the only thing that can help abort a meltdown when I'm in a situation I can't escape from (usually work-related). I don't take it any more than a few times per year (and my goal is to never take it at all, but it's good to have as an emergency backup). It does reduce the sensory overload to a manageable level, but it's so extremely addictive and dangerous that I am careful not to use it any more than absolutely necessary. If I have it even more than once in two months, I can already see reduced effectiveness, so it's not a solution for anything other than the most extreme emergencies.

If you're really interested in the differences in my brain, I'd be happy to tell you more, though it's off topic so better to do it elsewhere. Maybe send me a PM. One thing I will say is that I don't consider "autism" to be a disorder. From all the research I've done into the subjective differences between autistic and non-autistic people (a LOT of research - but I know little to nothing about neurology itself), it seems clear to me that autistic people are not in any way damaged or disordered. They just have a different type of brain and nervous system which has just as many advantages as disadvantages (just like the non-autistic brains), but which unfortunately the modern world is not designed to accommodate, so many of us end up having problems that never would have existed 100 years ago or so. And since the non-autistic people intrinsically value social interaction, the assumption is that anyone who doesn't crave it or doesn't find it natural is somehow broken. Whereas non-autistic people are geared towards managing social interactions and quickly deciphering the broad strokes and "bigger picture" of a situation, autistic people are geared towards details and logic and solving problems, seeing all the details before ever considering a "bigger picture". Both types of brains are equally valid per se and it takes a combination of both to keep humanity functioning. The problems come from each group's expectations of the other, and from the sensory-overload-hell that is the modern world.

Anyway, that's already more than I meant to write. Send me a PM if you want to discuss further. As far as the original purpose of this thread, I think I have all the answers I came for. I thank everyone who attempted to help and who offered their opinions, even if I disagreed with some of them. I'm feeling excellent today and very optimistic about the current situation and the future.

Ooh you live in Prague ! Then why are you bothered by the fact that you need a drink every day? I think it's the most normal thing there is there, and yes I visit prague quite a bit and have family there (no I dont speak a word of Czech though). I also don't think you are going to encounter any form of social stigma if you drink a beer every day.

Just stick with your habit and have a pint of urquell a day, it isn't gonna hurt you.

Why yes, breaking the law is obviously a better option.

Ahooga ! Ahooga ! Bigot alert !

Newsflash: in various countries nowadays, smoking weed isn't actually illegal anymore. And the topic starter hasn't, as far as I have read, told us where he's from.

Besides, have you never ever sped while driving your car, pissed against a wall or thrown a used can of coke into the bushes? Never? Ever?
