You could disable diseases.

Thanks for your hint. Even though i knew about the occasional revenge, i didn't know that there's such a thing like a loyalty cascade - just checked the wiki. In the meanwhile i can't check anymore, since i abandoned the fortress. But i think you're right, since the whole thing started with a schizophrenic dwarf who had been struck down (or maybe a dwarf who had been struck down by the schizophrenic). The announcements are an easy thing to miss.

By the way, the announcements are quite often only one page long, with no way to check older pages. I don't remember this from older Masterwork Dwarf Fortress versions. Is there some kind of maximum of log lines that is shared with the fight reports? With the diseases the fight reports often become very numerous and stuffed.

Masterwork DF / Tame animated weapons attack my dwarves!

A couple of tame animated weapons suddenly started to attack my dwarves. And they can't be selected for an attack by the military squads, so they're causing a lot of dead dwarves in my fortress.

Is this a bug? Or an evil magery? (There only enemy on the map is a forgotten beast, though.) Can they be calmed down somehow?

Thanks for any hints!

I've got a problem with creating rigid scale and chitin. The tanners uses up scales and chitin but the results were items named "skin" which i can't use for anything, at least not at my tailor shop to create chitin/scale armor. Is this a common bug or likely resolved at any new fortress i create, or did i just miss something?

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Tamed exotic hostile creatures - still hostile
« on: September 17, 2011, 07:46:10 pm »
Thanks for the answers.

No crocodiles were caught in the wild, all were from sieges.

Also the hydra and the dragon (tested with dragon in the meanwhile) were both hostile after taming, and both had names, but i'm not sure where their names came from. How do you find out if it's from hurting/killing dwarves?

And Grumble, breeding those currently hostile to use their children is a good idea. I guess that way i can have a nice tame crocodile-farm in a couple of years.

DF Gameplay Questions / Tamed exotic hostile creatures - still hostile
« on: September 17, 2011, 02:34:40 pm »
Today i caged several exotic animals, including numerous from a Goblin siege (multiple Cave Crocodiles, Cave Crawlers and Rutherers) and additionaly a Hydra and a Dragon. So i thought it's time to edit the raws, due to the bug that doesn't allow a Dungeon Master to be assigned. Set all EXOTIC_PET to PET and restarted the game. Fortunatly this worked and was able to choose all this creatures as taming-targets at the kennels, and tamed them all.

In order to free a couple of cages i decided to assign some Cave Crocodiles and Cave Crawlers to a pen right under the mass-pit, to welcome another couple of caged Goblins and Troglodytes. Unfortunately they didn't welcome the Goblins and Troglodytes but my dwarfs that released them, leading to several dead dwarf before my military arrived.

I had to try it again with other exotic animals, this time more carefully, with the military ready. The Crocodiles kept attacking, as well as the Cave Crawlers (didn't test with the Rutherers yet). But worse, also the Hydra attacked after its release and i don't want to find out if the Dragon will attack too (he left a permanent impression at his arrival, making kitten-roast from quite a distance).

Are there any known reasons why this beasts attack, even after they have been tamed? Respectively any ways to avoid it? The only tameable animals it worked fine with, are the also exotic and otherwise aggressive elk-birds.

Thanks for any advice.

Thanks for your help. That's bad news. Who shall use those royal rooms now (beside the tomb)? The Mayor? He already has an office large enough.

Is there a chance that a new king will be elected in another fortress of my civilization?

Also is there a way to add that noble to the game again via editing the savefile or using a certain tool?

Thanks!

DF Gameplay Questions / Baron died - New one next autumn? King some day?
« on: September 13, 2011, 04:54:02 am »
Hi all

Recently my childless baron died from a cave-in while the liaison was here. The liaison left angry and i am left without a baron.

Will i have a chance to assign a new baron, respectively count next autumn? If not, is it still possible that a king moves to my fotress some day? As a side note: There's no king listed for my civilization.

Thanks for any hints
