They always travel to the furthest-away wells, at the justice room at the end of the deepest cave I've cultivated, to drink... troglodytes used to gather out there until I put some barracks and an archery range down there, with the squads set to Inactive so they'd switch between training and their jobs, wandering, armed, around in the cave. So that's probably how it happened

Thanks

I think Udib has a grown-up sibling now.

Yeah. She's making a rock pot

GOOD

Since Udib is eleven now... she'll be an adult soon, and able to work. Good

How she became a dabblin garmor user, fighter, didger, I don't know. Like
her older sister Reg did somehow. WTF.

How is this. o_o

1st Sandstone, 175, Mid-Autumn

Happy new month. I haven't updated in 3 months because there's basically
nothing to report.

I found out I had a big stash of statues, weapon racks and armour stands,
mostly from rock, some from marble or gold, so I loaded up some bedrooms
with them. I also specced a new row of apartments since all my bedrooms are
assigned almost, so there'll be nowhere to put the next immigrants. Well, on
the first floor, the first row of apartments is intentionally unassigned to
serve as a hotel for dwarves with no rooms. So that's ok

I'm going to assign some more furnace operators to help with making
pearlash. I thought Potters did that, before

Right now almost every assigned bedroom has one to two statues, a cabinet, a
coffers, a table, a chair, a bed, a weapon rack, and an armour stand. Udib
owns a caged goblin. The captain of the guard has a gold weapon rack in a
regular apartment but he has a dining room and an office that were assigned
to my baron eventually. Looks like when I get a king he'll be going in some
noble-sized rooms on the second or third residential level, the ones on the
second level are being smoothed where they're dug from rock, instead of
clay, so that's good.

The mayor has a dining room and an office sharing the same space and
furniture (it's only one room) but they are both classed Decent. He also has
a noble-sized bedroom. So does the bookkeeper, whose office and dining room
are separate.

The bookkeeper's office is actually an Opulent Throne Room.

I have at least four artifact armours (low boot, high boot, gauntlet, lead
mail shirt) and an artifact black bronze warhammer. This would be a good
fort to return to with an Adventurer but Adventurer mode in this world is a
little fucked since Dibesherib can't be reclaimed or probably visited. I
think this is in the northwest (dwarven civilization is Zugobmeng) and
Dibesherib is in the east so maybe if I stick to this area I can find
Tenshedshem again, adventuring. Maybe

Since adamantine has led to hell every time for me now I don't like to see it. But in my dream although I didn't get as far as mining it I had the impression this stuff was non-porous, and I felt measured glee

I distinctly dreamed about hitting blue metal in dwarf fortress last night. (I just remembered: and was annoyed to realize it was only a dream...) In other words the spectre of adamantine has finally invaded my last sanctuary: sleep

Has this happened to anyone else

Gangrene is caused by constriction of bloodflow

You're probably thinking of necrotizing fasciitis

Oh the Manager who is Tun's mom got out of the hospital. GOOD

Look at her wounds

There were like four different nurse dwarves involved in the slow recovery
of Kivish Regiton

Mostly the broker

Nobles make excellent nurses

A presser gave birth to a girl

Took all my hunting/related dwarves (animal caretakers, animal trainers,
hunters, etc) out of squads (I found three or four) and made sure they all
had Hunting enabled afterwards (I found two or three who didn't). See if I
can get any hunting going on this game that way

Also assigned all my archery targets as individual but overlapping archery
ranges so my squads will use all of them instead of just the middle one (or
just two in the case of the cave range)

Damn I forgot about those elf merchants and assumed they were already gone
but now it says they'll be leaving soon and I never requested my broker at
the depot GRR. But it is set to 'Anyone may trade' so hopefully someone does

Goden Tishiskulet, Animal Trainer has lost his ability to grasp and is
spamming can't pickup equipment. Took him off hunting/related

But what -can- he do? Can he even Haul? Maybe I better leave him with no
jobs and let him be a permanently idling cripple

Maybe

The Health of Kivish Regiton, manager (Wounds)

left lower leg, skin
left lower leg, fat
left lower leg, muscle
Has been sutured
---
left lower arm, bone
 Needs setting
 Smashed apart
---
left upper leg, bone
 Light bruising
---
third finger, right hand, mail
 Smashed apart
third finger, right hand, bone
 Needs setting
 Smashed apart
 Extreme pain
Has been sutured

Looks like she's lost her middle finger

But she can hold things with the other three

The other three fingers

I was showing a frirend dwarf fortress so I gave Fath Imazkadol, Tun's
younger sister an armour stand and weapon rack which makes her room pretty
crowded. Tun only has one sister

He doesn't have any brothers or a dad

His dad died in the army

Remember

So my manager is hospitalized I have to either replace her or order work
by hand

This is such a hard decision

20th Granite, 175, Early Spring

I only have one and a half pages of pre approved work orders left

Mostly make ash and make charcoal

Half

Population: 128

A mechanic gave birth to a boy

Population: 129

Someone got attached to a crossbow

Which prompted me to check my artifacts for named weapons and there is one,
Nuralzes, The Blind Brand, a iron short sword. OK

It has a smear of Ngotol Suckwaves's forgotten beast blood onnit

It has three kills. The other two are troglodytes

It belongs to Id Straplashes the dwarf

Nice

Some migrants have arrived

I guess there were like six of them

Population: 135

Exactly six

DF Gameplay Questions / Great bug? Or greatest

Hi

Is it true that if a military dwarf gets interrupted on his way to put a meal in his backpack, he'll never stop owning the meal but won't eat it later either and it'll stay in my inventory forever or until traded? And that military dwarves might do this even under other circumstances which is really why I just set my military to carry no food? Is that true

I understand a lot of people just trade prepared meals but it would happen to other kinds of food. This seems like a pretty bad bug if so

Anyone

Easily replacable to a drop from 10 z-levels.

10 z-level drops wound not kill

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Forced Arrest
« on: January 21, 2012, 10:06:55 pm »
The only thing is, dwarves are a bit slow about feeding caged prisoners. This may turn into very gradual capital punishment. Cave crocodiles might be kinder.

Having some dwarves with no labours other than healthcare (not even hauling) makes prison and hospitals far more survivable... statistically

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: rock nut press cake
« on: January 21, 2012, 09:56:28 pm »
But the press cake and the paste both show as "rock nut" in the kitchen so if you want to cook one you have to also cook the other. So only cook press cake when you're out of paste or have too much paste
