Note that Wikipedia lists several uses in food production (under Applications) and Compost and Conversion to Ethanol (under Potential Uses).

I can see Glycerol being a very useful product in a Dwarf fortress.

My legendary metalworker has just died of starvation.  She was carrying the artifact she created.  How do I retrieve the artifact?  Am I right in thinking that it should eventually be hauled to a Finished Goods stockpile?

The artifact is a skull totem. See this thread for its description:

I have a broker, so I know the cash value of the items that I am trading.  I do not yet have a bookkeeper.

Can I get the merchants to pay in coins?  Do I need a bookkeeper for this, or am I always limited to barter for foreign trade?

Could someone please give me an idiot-level description of how the interface for Trade Agreements works?

I recently encountered this for the first time, and I think I may have signed up to an agreenment I can't complete.

1.  How does the interface for trade agreenments work?

2.  How do I view a trade agreement after I've made it?

3. What are the penalties for failing to fulfill a trade agreement?

Is there any way to see the contents of a bin?

The only time I've been able to do this is at the trade depot.  Can I just look at the contents of a bin in a stockpile in other circumstances?

Plump helmets are a good basic food, with two advantages:

1 They can be grown all the year round.

2 After eating, seeds are left, which can then be planted the following season.
