I'm pretty sure that changed with the version 40.xx updates. In prior versions the world was more or less completely static minus whatever you killed.

I remember in a previous version it was possible to send a dwarf, animal, or whatever into a wall hard enough for it to explode into pieces but that doesn't seem to happen anymore. Was that removed from the game?

Do the chairs in the guild hall need to be stone?
edit: sorry, figured it out. It says thrones but it can be either stone or wood. This really is a legit question though, what am i supposed to do with an old chest?

I had been focused on trying to get my guildhall together after having had one of my miners die from blacklung being on. I also wanted to get my well done so that my dwarves wouldn't have to get water from outside. Then the army of undead spellcasters came, and boy did they make a show. There's fire everywhere, my boar breeding's a lost cause, as well as the rest of the fort. So, long story short, undead spellcasters will fuck your shit.

I embarked with a river, and said river suddenly led to empty space; a waterfall.

It's a 6 z-level drop.
Fun will surely ensue.

Heh. I had an embark with on the old version of the fallout mod. Took me so long to figure out what those deaths were.

I noticed farming is a bit more (disturbingly more) difficult and I was wondering if anyone could tell me how farming works compared to normal dwarf fortress (besides being more difficult.)

I accidently got the very edge of an evil region. Turns out some leprechauns (zombie leprechauns) decided to come to my fort.
