I want to get in on this but I'm a little confused.
has year 2 voting finished?
Can I assume that the OP will always show the link to the latest fort save, (preferably with its start date) and that between Sunday and Thursday I can take it and destroy "improve" it?

Okay! Lets get started on his fortress then. and dont take it hard if your fortress 'loses.' its not really a competion. and its a bit more likely your save will get the vote now that we're all on a level playing field

Aha! A non-aquifered volcano with fresh water and trees! This should work well. If only I actually knew how to use magma. There is no flux stone, which is bad.

Brimmeadow

The dwarves stop the wagon and begin digging out a meeting hall and trading post area, as well as stockpile rooms. Farming might take a bit to set up. They's no dirt. Starvation is a possibility. A Giant Wolverine has killed one of the war dgos, and two of the pack animals have been slaughtered. I forgot to bring a breeding pair. A couple migrant waves came, we are up to 16 dwarves. Make that 15, the axedwarf sent to kill that wolverine is no longer with us. Winter is here, and there is no water. A well is being set up, but it won't be active until the water unfreezes. There is probably a way to speed this up with the magma, but I don't know how. The caravan brought enough booze for the winter, providing a huge migrant wave doesn't pop up. We bought some food from them too.
   Well rats, they found the dead axedwarf. Now everyone is unhappy. They'll get over it. Or I will kill them. >=) muahahahahahahhahahahahahahhehheheheehehehehehehohohohohohohohohohhumhumhumhumhumhumhum. Wow this place is kinda boring besides that there dumb wolverine. Twitch.
   The liason wants maces, headwear, backpacks, and tanned hides. We requested bars of various metals.
   A kobold thief showed up late in Obsidion. It is probably the first of many. Indeed, here is another, minutes later. A farmer was killed by the wolverines. So 14 dwarves left. The wood chop choppers would not chop wood. Oh how I wish they would.

Spring has arrived! I nearly missed the announcement.

14 dwarves are living, they are working on putting stone in the stone stockpile and setting up farms down by the brook. Created wealth: 8696

I know this is an inadequate summarry, it is because so little happened. And I'm too busy to put up pictures this time. But i'll put up the save if it wins, which it probably wont :P The fortress is finally laid out in its simplest, and I've planned out the bedrooms, but digging has not started.

Small changes like that should be fine, but if your fortress doesnt win the first vote it would be for naught. And dont worry about getting your save in by wednesday, thursday or friday will be fine. Everyone start your own world though, i might not be able to play today so go ahead and get started
