Whether your squads steal livestock or not, a recover artefact mission will reveal their cave, should an artefact ending up there, and further raid can be done.

Check the civ screen. Are the gobs at war with you? If not (happens sometimes) You can change this by raiding them. That aside: They won't raid you unless your pop is at least 80 or unless you produce a metric ton of wealth. As a kindness to the player. (This takes less long than you would think. But good luck surviving a siege before that.)

Melting is not a syndrome. Melting means something in your fortress is so hot it kills people to stand near it.

Trading with elves regularly results in large amounts of tigers, elephants, jaguars, and rhinos. This doesn't surprise me at all. I'm just surprised you got so many of the same species.

It REALLY should. You would think dwarves would obey their stated profession in favor of other tasks, when there are jobs meant for them to do.

Lots of stuff been going on in my fort. but apparently my military aren't the only badasses around. I just saw a combat report where a random elf herbalist who joined my fort beat down a giant cave spider with his bare hands. DABBLING FIGHTER MY ASS...

Hippos are widely considered the most dangerous animal in Africa, by the native Africans. I think that says enough by itself.

That said: There are certainly other herbivores that can be very dangerous. It's just with hippos it's not really situational at all.

Give us the ability to manually choose which jobs take priority over others. Or, better yet: The same, but on a per dwarf basis. There's nothing that makes me scream like all my miners and builders stopping their jobs when I'm doing a huge project because a wagon exploded and dropped 5 pages of vendor trash on my lawn. On the other hand I want them to be hauling when I don't have any mining or building for them to do. So I'd like to be able to tell them to do their actual jobs in favor of other available tasks. But still do those other tasks on the side.

It would also help with issues like noone ever bringing prisoners or hospital patients water or booze.

Yeah but it feels wasteful to not take it. The thing is I *want* whoever isn't busy to be hauling stuff. I *don't* want people to be doing it in favor of more important tasks like mining, building my pump stack (which takes long enough even when people *are* doing their jobs...), etc.
