DF General Discussion / transplanting saves
« on: November 16, 2022, 09:22:16 am »
I am having issues transplanting my saves. I copied the region in the save folder of the one game, created a save folder on another game and chucked the extracted region in there but the save is not showing in the game. i went through the data/save route.

Im starting a demon hunters fort. The surface will consist of three circular sub fortresses in the form of the unholy trinity sigils of the goetica. Lucifer, leviathan, and belial. Then each Z-layer will be built as one of the 72 sigils for the goetic demons, straight down into hell. The entire fortress will be dedicated to containing, killing, and invading hell.

I am building a half in half out fort. The majority of the workshops are inside the Cliffside along with the quarters. I am at 60 dwarves. I have a wooden wall surrounding the front which contains several two story warehouses with workshops up top,a tavern for visitors, and a temple. The wall has been renamed the wall of the dead as I am putting dwarf tombs In front of the wall to make it thicker. I traded with an elf merchant and my first instinct was to entomb them and add them to the wall but j decided to be civilized. The elf proceeded to come back as a were monkey, killing several and infecting a couple. I buried the dead to the wall and forced the two infected into burrows in the tombs where I walled them up. Well. One did. The other one was too Injured and turned in the middle of my fortress. Several more dead dwarves later, I took no chances and walked the two surviving infected up in the middle of my fort. Along with a baby and an innocent. They killed one weremonkey when it turned but were slaughtered by the other one. I later moved the dwarf monkey into the wall. I went from 25 to 7

I realized I needed a military so I started to experiment with child danger animal rooms. However... it rather failed. So looking after my dwarves religious needs, I built a temple and used the children's bodies to fill the walls. One of my child experiments is haunting the living quarters. Well I trained up three dwarves, hit iron and armed them up. The next time elf traders came, my spear dwarf jabbed both in the head and stabbed one to death while the mace dwarf bludgeoned the escapee. I out the elf corpses on display in the temple. Now I am arming for inevitable war. I am 60 strong with 5 military. I am digging deeper to fuel the resources for traps and ballista when those skinny eared a holes come a knocking

My human adventurer dreamed of ruling the world. He was a master wrestles and a novice in swimmer, dodging. (this may have been his downfall) He immediately took over a human city by proclaiming himself ruler, and killing the former. His attacks with the scimitar oddly hardly ever decapitated stuff. It would say it was cloven asunder and/or it twisted with the force of the blow. Turns out the female ruler was the daughter of an overlord mother and a bandit leader father. The father was of unknown parentage and was obsessed with extending his own life, he worshipped a god of twilight on top of it. So he killed an evil bloodline, became lord, killed his people, and was ultimately surrounded and killed by five goblins.

whenever I do that with the up stair, it makes the blinking green dot. Then I press enter to confirm on an open, clear space. and nothing. I can do stairs all the live long day in dirt, but not in the open

This is driving me batsh*t insane. I keep looking all over the internet but I must be having a serious mental block. http://imgur.com/9nKLKnA

How am I supposed to build a second level? I remember I did it before but I can't redo it. I can't build an up/down, up, down stairs in between the walls or outside of them.

Is this what I'm reading? A dwarves god granted a demon its boon so it can test the strength of fortresses?

I had a fort of thirty dwarves. At the time I stole from the dwarfish merchants but that's another matter. A forgotten beast appeared the the caverns. The forgotten beast anan tekmokavuz has come! An enormous feathered cobra! It has three long curving horns and a bloated body. It's taupe gray feathers are patchy. We are its poisonous bite! Because of the linear way I built my staircase I couldn't figure out how to block it. Needless to say, my rag tag militia was slaughtered wielding silver war hammers and axes with no armor. Then my last dwarf of three dwarves and four children. One dwarf is in a mood. The expedition leader, the founder, gets there first with an iron pick I assigned him. The first thing that happened was the forgotten beast missed him. Then the expedition leader promptly fractured its skull with the pick. Then he tears apart the spine.

The forgotten beast gores his upper body and liver and his right arm was severed, but not his weapon arm. He pulls out the pick and hits the horns a few times. Then he tears apart the upper spine. Then the tail. But then the forgotten beast bites his head off.

Thinking I would have to send in my last sane dwarf, and leave the other one to go insane, I drafted him, only to find no sign of the beast. I checked the deceased tab. There, among 41 bodies, was the forgotten beast. He freaking did it. He killed a forgotten beast when no one else made a dent. My fortress is on a volcano. I will either make him the most opulent tomb at the top or toss his body into the volcano and give him a one way ticket to armok.

But regardless. Bless mosus rootedarrow.

made a bandit camp with a moat where I kept all the bodies and merchants bodies. I kept killing the migrants as they came. Then i got this wonderful idea of setting ballistas all around the migrant's prison. Needless to say, my redneck bandit dwarves killed each other with the ballistas.

After have my fort fell to a were mongoose infection I finally got under control, I retired it. Then I made an elf adventurer. With a vision of armor and a burning blood he forsook his people and traveled to Futurecielings. It was there that he claimed a bronze pick and began to slaughter my old fort in the name of armor who was displeased. I had him claim the fort with a new name, something like the tree trees of green tree fortress stench... Then I'll reclaim it.

Oh yeah, his name is mame pinemurder the reclusive wealth-lock of woods. 22 kills and only bruises to show for it. They deserved it after giving me nothing but possession moods,

Oh yeah I also forgot to mention, I impersonated some diety of sun and light so they worshiped me as a god while I was striking them down.

Yes in legends it says my old fort futurecielings called treetree the green leafy hole-fortress of stench and my elf is the lord.
