This is like saying Pompeii is the hottest city on earth.

But here's the kicker: a lot of this smog isn't being caused by industrial pollution. It's being caused by wildfires. CANADIAN wildfires.

So, just to be clear, are those thousands in utility bills before or after penalty charges? Not that it'd make things any less ridiculous.

DF Modding / Re: [MODDING] CREATURE & ENTITY QUESTIONS THREAD
« on: August 02, 2021, 11:11:18 pm »
Is it possible to mod in an entity that goes extinct during world creation? I'm trying to mod in an "ancient" race that dies off before the game start. The idea is to create ruins with awesome equipment (the ancient civ would have access to better weapons and armor). It seems a simple enough idea on paper: ensure that the ancient creatures MAXAGE is smaller than the worldgen's target year, and keep them from reproducing. This second part is giving me a hard time.

I already tried the following:

...

3) Add [MAXAGE:1:12] to the female caste, so that they hopefully die off before coming of age. Somehow, this still doesn't work during world gen
...

Did you try the opposite? That is, giving [MAXAGE:1:12] to males, and no [MAXAGE] tags to females? I remember accidentally having modded civs becoming extinct due to that, plus from ridiculously increased pop ratio for males.

Not for nothing. I wasn't implying insufficient training was the cause of this. I was pointing out a fact that, as presented in the footage, procedure was not being followed. The whys are gonna take more time to confirm entirely, though we can all get a good guess on that...

What's worth mentioning in the Toledo shooting was the officer's improper use of tactical strobe lights. Poor lighting plus blinking lights creates visual distortions. The officer should already have had training to understand as much well before he got himself into this situation. Had he used a regularly flashlight (like he was supposed to), he would've plainly seen the kid was not armed.

That's precisely why I just gave up on bows and switched to rifles. You retain a significant range advantage, and can get plenty of ammo back (perhaps more) from killing zombie soldiers and their upgraded kevlar brute/hulk variants.

As for yeast, you can sometimes find some in liquor stores. It's also a rare spawn in houses.

They're not just endangering their own kids, but others as well. There are legitimate, non-stupid reasons certain people can't be completely immunized. Certain people being young children, and rarer, those with allergic reactions to vaccines. Anti-vaxxers are risking all those lives in their senseless crusade.

Incidentally, we face a similar problem with anti-maskers, but we already have a thread for that...

Parts of my notes I left in my phone had been erased. Mostly, a chunk in the middle. For that to happen, I must've mistapped a bunch of things when I wasn't looking. I really, really hate phones...

EDIT: And now I noticed auto-correct/auto-fill made some things more illegible than if they'd just been left as misspellings. Did I mention I really, really hate phones?

Well, I don't want to sound dismissive, but... I'd strongly advise you research that on your own terms. There's quite a few choices and compromises you'll have to make when looking for, and installing, a Linux distro.

Yeah, sorry. Can't help with that. I've only ever compiled for the Linux version of Terra Vitae, not Windows mainline. I'm pretty sure you need Visual Studio with a C++ compiler. Beyond that, I dunno.

CMV and CPC files aren't editable.

XML files should be viewable with any text editor.

Compiling's a whole 'nother can of worms. The tools, dependencies, and compiler you need are all based on a variety of factors. To start, you'll have to explain what operating system you're working with. Windows, I presume?

Sometimes my ears generate noise during silence, mostly it is ringing, but other times, when I lay in bed, I hear voices call my name that are unfamiliar to me. This isn’t scary, just am curious why this is

I expect to be informed on who wins the election in this thread - the only news source I trust.
