DF General Discussion / Re: We need a wall along the Elvish border
« on: December 30, 2016, 03:55:15 am »
"Look, I know Urist personally. Great guy, terrific, terrific. Absolutely terrific mayor! But here's the thing, this guy is totally weak. Completely weak in fact. He makes this mountainhome look like a joke to everybody. Take a look at my record. I built a YUGE pump stack. Not only was it yuge, it was a beautiful thing too. I still get compliments to this day. People everywhere are always telling me, "Geshud, that pump stack you built is the most gorgeous pump stack, I've ever seen".

You want to know why it was such a success? Because I know how to cut deals. I know how to get dwarves together. Everyone told me it couldn't be done. But as I've been saying, and wrote a whole chapter on in "The Art of the Fortress" you have to know how to use leverage. You need to know your leverage, and just be ruthless in making these deals.

So people, I want you to join me! We're going to build a yuge wall to keep the elves out. In fact, we're gonna make the humans pay for it!

Fortressbowel has been running for 52 years, the majority of the dwarves living there at this point were born in the fortress.

Art defacement can be dangerous. My mayor just got murdered by a tantruming dwarf, the reason? we atom smashed some old "masterful" rotten clothes he made.

An ungodly amount of puppies and several dwarves(including one of the 7 originals) have suffocated to death from what I can only deduce was accidental exposure to the boiling blood of a giant alligator with spiral horns.

Geshud Lovelyfigure, Mayor for 21 years has finally shriveled up and died.

RIP Geshud, builder of the great gold pyramid and destroyer of clowns.

When my queen would not stop issuing mandates to make even more bracelets, I placed her alone on a squad and sent her to battle a group of blind cave ogres on her own.

Tossed a few naked goblins for my dragon to have fun with. One thing I noticed is that despite several generous rations of dragonfire were served, the goblins were completely unharmed by it, I really expected them to melt or something.

Bit disappointing really.

You can breed them and their offspring will be safe.

But wouldn't they fight and possibly kill their offspring the moment they were born?

A full human siege, they came mounted on giant ticks, giant cheetahs and cow moose. All humans died or fled, one dwarf lost a lower arm to a tick bite.

The human filth of Umonbehal, the Great Kingdoms have dared besiege our great city.

Yes we brutally slaughtered the guild representative but he was being a terrible annoyance, trying to push his inferior human crafts on us!

Oh well it is no matter, all the humans died impaled on the pointy ends of adamantine weapons.

My new fort is going well. Have all positions filled and starting to get everything in place. 6564 dwarves.

So naturally I just found a body drained of blood.
Naturally.
