You are probably right. I didn't know if the exportlegends had its own code to extract data from memory, since it can provide more details, or if it relied on an already existing function (probably the same than the one behind the button).

I really miss the ability to consult Legends. DF is absolutely not the same for me without it.
And I want to know why the hell my dwarves insist in crafting Dingo statues.

The exportlegends info wouldn't work now they returned the function?

Correction - humm, nope.. 'exportlegends must be run from the main legends view' is the inevitable message. No cookie here either.

Thank you Clément, even in RO mode, this is so massively helpful with large populations.

Yeah, I would advise to create specialized Labors as you go when you start to get some nice and competent crafters.

Affecting them to workshops works great, too. No one else can use them though.

Also don't forget to remove them from the do everything.
Wondering why it was so peaceful I found my legendary crafters gathered around the most remote pond they could find, fishing.
Needless to say this Fortress is in dire need of a whip or a Hammerer.

Do you have something in You Steam drive:  'SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Dwarf Fortress\data\installed_mods'?

6
You have to do a 'Add new work details'; click on the wheel at the right and select in the new menu the jobs you want to affect to that Labor group. Once 'done' you can select a name for this labor group and affect it to some dwarves or forbid it to others.

You will find here the Weaponsmithing, Armoring and Furnace operations you were looking for.

I don't know how the game choose who does the smithing when this is not set up.
But, if I am asked and looking at the results I would say only mouthbreather Urists are elected to work in the workshops.

Yes it is, open the Labor Window ('y'), click on the tab 'Kitchen' in the row of tabs below and there it is.
Hope it helps

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Should wall be included in room designation

2) As above, and smoothing/engraving those walls are nice ways to increase the value of the room for Nobles and officials for example.

4) Did you look in the Room tab in the personal window (U and the magnifying glass). All the places allocated to the dwarf are listed there with their quality.

9
Well, if you need then name, then why not use DFHack to open legends mode right from the game?

DFHack is not available for Steam version.

10
The only way to see them is in Legend mode. It's only searchable with the name, you cannot use something helpful like 'Goddess' or 'God'.

Basically what was giving some flavor to the world has been made hard to reach. No more export for example.

How did I manage to miss this?

Thank you so much for this awesome work!

I am glad to see people spending a lot of time to organize their fortress and their dwarves.. I see so many examples of very utilitarian fortresses..

I like to play with 200-300 cap.

Each of my dwarf/couple gets their own very simple room. But Founders (the original 7), Legendary or special Dwarves have their own habitation layer with lavish rooms, offices, corridors with fancy statues specially commissioned for them or depicting Legend stuff.

I have also layers for Temples, Guild Houses (all specialized dwarves grouped together by craft) with dedicated Dining halls, rooms, storage etc..
Obviously when a new leader arises he wants a new temple built for his favored god, or an existing one massively enlarged, with more personal, statues, instruments. A new richly decorated palace and other niceties to forget the lack of taste of the previous leader is a must.

Each squad gets also a casern, with dedicated rooms, dining halls, training fields. They become more and more decorated with honors/statues or just abandoned after a complete wipe out or a dishonorable defeat.

Everything is socially stratified, tombs, dinning halls etc..

Generally before the lag monster arrives I tend to have fortresses with a lot of 'history', abandoned places, out of favor temples, discarded Guild houses or caserns. It gives a feel of growth and decay to the place, at least for me.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Medal of honor

Yes, you cannot do that.

I usually decorate the shields/weapons of the noted Dwarfs with some specific stockpile linked to a specific workshop. It does not add to the weight and some Dwarfs manage to get impressive Shields or Weapons.

I usually engrave the rooms those guys own, dedicate statues, build special tombs, furnitures in the material they like and so on.. They are also in a special class 'Warrior' instead of Militia
I do also note the ones doing an artifact or any other Heroic deed not military oriented with a special profession where duties are removed and only their special skill is kept active.

But, I tend to run 150+ forts and can generally afford to have an Elite class with over the top luxuries and very light schedules

The number of CIV was okay, but what I changed was the number of sites.

Yours was a bit low (260) compared to the number of possible CIV (40). it makes those CIV very sensitive to anything occurring during the history generation phase. With 640 I got even Kobolds.
