First off, it's not LUA. It's Lua.

You need to run the command "lua" to enter the Lua interpreter, followed by "print(dfhack.gui.getSelectedUnit().id)", then "quit" if you want to get back to the DFHack console.

now there is still the problem of dead units not being selectable and finding out the unitIDs of dead enemies

for the reviving stuff: how do you find out unitIDs for dead dwarfs or goblins or creatures in general? you can no longer click on them so how do i list all IDs?

Answer:  LUA and the command "print(dfhack.gui.getSelectedUnit().id) works.

Can someone explain to me what this means? first of all what is LUA, where do i type this stuff? in the df-console or somewhere ingame or what? please help ;-/

im trying to revive dead goblins in an attempt to end the infinite-siege-tag bug but cannot select them so i need their unit ids

i have a question:

when i try to use tiletypes it pretty much works as advertised.

but my problem is: i wanna add some clay and sand to my map and all i manage to do is adding different stone types, but whenever i try to "paint soil sand_red" or "paint m sand" or whatever it wont work. all it does is paint soil or stone.

what i was searching for the last 2 hours is some kind of LIST of available materials but i couldnt find anything. so my question: how do i select any kind of sand or clay as painted material?

hey guys,

when i train a lot i get "superhuman strength" when i press z - s
now does  this mean i have reached my maximum str?
is superhuman strength always the same amount or is there some kind of number (1100/2200 for example) like in fortress mode? if yes how can i view that? and when i reached my "humany possible" maximum, and then become vampire, will my strength still double or stay max?

and can i become necromancer and AFTER that werwolf?
and can i become werwolf and AFTER that necromancer?

when i am werwolf can i just walk into necro towers?
is there  any difference between legendary fighter 20 / 50 / 75 and 99 ?

swords are good alround wepons, spears are good for big enemies with organs, what is good against bronze colossus?
why do some people carry more than one shield?
i removed dagger from my inventory while i had mace equipted. now when i fight i can choose between mace and dagger. does this make my attacks weaker similar to one-handing 2h-weapons?

wow workflow realy looks good :-D

but a question if you want to only mill rock nuts in your quern/mill and no other seeds/plants, then what would you have to do in workflow? seems to me like its more of a "produce as many as i need and not more"-tool than a "i need exactly and only that"-tool

im totally lost i cant find the dfhack itemtags ANYWHERE... are you guys hiding them or what :-/

i just want to make my quern mill rock nuts and no other seeds.
and i know i use job-material <XXXXX>
but sadly noone seems to know (not even the internet) where i can find an actual list of what item has which tag ...

does someone know ? :-O

hey guys


when i was using dfhack's "job item-material" command, and i was wondering where do i find a list which plant/stone etc. has which name in the console?

i select the quern where mill plants is highlighted in blue and then type

job-material <rock_nuts>

in the console right?
only that i dont know what i should write instead of rock nuts because i dont find any kind of list anywhere -.-

another question, is it possible to see if my empark-spot has bituminous coal or lignite? (the "stone-fuels") before embarking when i am searching for aquifers/flux stone/soil etc... ?

i started searching flux in the -20 z level lol was i too deep? i settled on a hill so being 20 levels in the ground i am still able to see the grass outside on the edges ... :->

hey guys

i embarked near a volcano and i could swear i embarked so the lower 3 tiles were from a flux-biom. now i have nearly mined out 10 complete layers and didnt find a single flux stone (marble,chalk etc.).

is there a way to check if my embark side realy has flux (just if it has , not where) like when embarking new? another way than backup-savegame, give up , reembark and check abondoned map ...

hey guys

i just got a baron and can make someone champion.

the wiki says champions teach my lilitia occationally by demonstrations

so i got a few questions:

1. does my champion automatically wander from one barracks to the next and instructs all my militia from time to time? or do i need to asign him tasks to instruct?
2. he needs high teacher skill, but does he also need skill in anything to be effective? like can he be level 0 in every fighter-skill and still "instruct" my militia? or does he need a high skill and only teaches this particular high skill (i think dodging/armor would be  good choises? )?
so would it be wise to chose one of my best warriors/archers or some  random peasant ^^
3. this concerns the sheriff. should i have a strong or weak sheriff? should i asign him troops? should he patrol or be "afk"?
